15 technicals ?

They call this group of officials the A-Team. Well they need to call them the D- team. I want to say the game has passed them by, but I don’t believe that is the case. I think they are just there for paychecks and want to get out of the gym as fast as possible. If you look back on how many brawls or technical fouls “due to hard over aggressive play” or scuffles during boys high school basketball games in district 6 I bet you will find this group is apart of 75% of them.

They are a disgrace to officials and really needs to be under review. Murphy’s is open until 2 guys there is enough time to do a good job officiating our youth, and not worried about Miller Time so much. Ladika, Gojsovich, and DeBouse you guys have a responsibility to control the game and not allow teams to just beat each other up all game. God forbid some one gets injured due to your officiating or lack there of.

I was at the ferndale valley game and i am going to say that the officials are 1 of the main reasons this situation happened.
the officials blamed the wrong two boys for this situation. Tension was definately rising with both teams because the officials were not calling any calls even the obvious ones. both sides were upset about this. but happened was there was a struggle with the ball between Hayden Stumpo and a valley player causing them to be on the ground. #33 CODY KUSHNER ran over to the players KICKING HAYDEN WHILE HE WAS ON THE GROUND -- as hayden was trying to get up (i watched the video to confirm this) KUSHNER TOOK HIS FIST AND PUNCHED STUMPO IN THE FACE 3 TIMES -- putting Hayden back at the bottom of the pile -- at this point BOTH TEAMS RUSHED IN TO PROTECT (especially the ferndale boys wanting to get hayden off the ground)-- NO OTHER PUNCHES WERE THROWN EXCEPT BY JUSTIN BODENSHOTZ FOR FERNDALE -- 1 KINDA SHOVE / PUNCH HAPPENED FROM BODENSHOTZ.
THE OFFICIALS DID NOTHING -- THE VALLEY COACH GRABBED BODENSHOTZ THROWING HIM TO THE SIDE -- HE SHOULD HAVE KEPT HIS HANDS OFF THE FERNDALE PLAYERS BECAUSE THE FERNDALE COACHES WERE GETTING THEIR BOYS -- VALLEY COACHES SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THE SAME.
RYAN GAUNT AND THE VALLEY BOY WERE WRONGFULLY NAMED IN THE FIGHT -- NEITHER BOY DID ANYTHING, BUT GET OFF THE BENCH WITH THE FERNDALE AND VALLEY KIDS GETTING OFF THE BENCH. EVERYONE OF YOU TALKING AGAINST GAUNT AND THE OTHER VALLEY BOY WRONGFULLY NAMED SHOULD GET FACTS STRAIGHT FIRST
NOW -- WITH THAT SAID -- FERNDALE AD AND CONEMAUGH VALLEY'S PRINCIPAL REVIEWED THE TAPE -- CONFIRMED GAUNT AND THE VALLEY BOY (SORRY CAN'T REMEMBER HIS NAME) DID NOTHING WRONG OTHER THAN GET OFF THE BENCH BUT...... THE OFFICIALS WERE CALLED IN AND ASKED TO REVIEW THE TAPE AND NAME THE CORRECT BOYS AT FAULT -- THE 1 REF REFUSED TO WATCH THE TAPE -- THE OTHER REF DID WATCH AND CONFIRMED THE FINDINGS RELEASING GAUNT AND THE OTHER VALLEY BOY AND NAMING #33 CODY KUSHNER THE RING LEADER AND JUSTIN BODENSHOTZ AS THE 2 BOYS WHO DID SWING / HIT PLAYERS BUT..... THE REF THAT REFUSED TO WATCH WILL NOT OVERTURN HIS DECISION BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE TO MUCH WORK FOR HIM TO DO. BECAUSE OF THAT REF 2 INNOCENT BOYS SAT OUT A GAME (NOT ABLE TO GET POINTS) FOR A WRONGFUL ACT WHILE ALL OF YOU WHO DIDN'T GO TO THE GAME CRITICIZE GAUNT AND GRANDFATHER. HOW WRONG IS THAT??????????
AS FOR THE TECHNICALS THE OFFICIALS DID THE DIFFERENCE IN THE NUMBER OF FERNDALE PLAYERS WHO CAME ON THE COURT MINUS THE NUMBER OF VALLEY PLAYERS THAT CAME ON THE COURT AND GAVE EACH BOY 2 SHOTS -- FROM WHAT I SAW 7 VALLEY BOYS GOT 2 SHOTS EACH FOR A TOTAL OF 14 TECHNICALS -- AND I AM GOING TO SAY THAT THE OFFICIALS CAN'T COUNT BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY CAME UP WITH THOSE NUMBERS BOTH TEAMS HAD THE SAME NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON THE COURT TRYING TO BREAK UP THE FIGHT THAT #33 CODY KUSHNER STARTED -- HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EJECTED AND SUSPENDED (HE WASN'T EVEN IN THE BALL SCUFFLE -- HE CAME RUNNING OVER LOOKING TO START THE FIGHT -- AND FROM MY UNDERSTANDING FROM OTHER VALLEY FANS -- IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAS DONE THIS AND GOT AWAY WITH IT!!!!!

All that I can say is that I have never seen more interest in a game that finished with a final score of 89-46...

If what I am now hearing is occurring with the current Ferndale girls program, they have had 5 coaches in the past 10 years.

The boys team has had I believe 2 coaches over that same time period but I think one left and came back.

Unfortunatley it is difficult to break patterns and Ferndale has a pretty big problem at this point. They have allowed parents and school baord member (who have been the same people at times) to dictate who coaches based on who's kid gets to play . I certainly don't think this is a problem that is unique to Ferndale but it certainly has been more public there.

I was joking with Sarah Priest the other day about Ferndale's girls teams over the past five years or so and she agreed that many of them wouldn't last one practice with me as head coach...too much like work. Which is probably why I don't coach anymore.

As I posted earlier I wasn't there. But I wanted to comment on your latest post. Gaunt and Valley Boy did nothing wrong except come off the bench and now had to sit out their next game. That's the fallacy of your argument, coming off the bench during an altercation causes you to be ejected and therefore suspended for the next game at that level (ejected from varsity, sit out the next varsity, ejected from JV done for the rest of that night and the next JV game).

They may not have been involved in the altercation (I believe you if you watched the game tape) but coming off the bench during an altercation still causes a suspension.

You make great points about the problems at Ferndale. Like you said, the School Board has created these problems. Like the fact that Mommy hired Sonny to be the AD/Head Football Coach?? And, the greatful son is going to say "Thank You" by leaving Ferndale to go back to Johnstown.

i understand what you are saying, but what i witnessed is the enire team for BOTH teams came off the bench -- not just Gaunt and the other valley boy (Untract?? i think is his name) -- ALL players -- so this confirms that the officials made a judgement call to give the tecnicals for this in lieu of suspending BOTH teams -- that is what i was told as to why we got the technicals -- they took the total of ferndale leaving minus valley leaving -- giving the difference in technical shots to valley --
again i don't know where they got their math because both teams -- all players were on the court
they then said that Gaunt and the other valley boy got suspended for hitting -- not leaving the bench ---- i asked this question and that is what i was told.
Also after reviewing the tape Ferndale suspended Bodenshotz because the Ferndale A.D. said he hit on the tape he should be suspended.
Valley did not suspend Kushner because the officials didn't name him in the fight.
