Titan,

What's the difference? Are you kidding me?

Portage would have loved the chance to absorb a 6 TD beating by the Bears. The opportunity to play an incredible team, in the state playoffs, with all the media, in an excellent venue, would be great for the student-athletes and the community in whole. However, it wasn't to be in District 6, it would have happened in District 5. Its the chance to compete and win a District championship, and not just in football.

Does anyone actually think that District 6 will release any of these 5-6 additional schools being mentioned when they do pettition to leave? Richland, Portage, Blacklick, Conemaugh Valley, Ferndale, or Claysburg?

Just think of the money that will be lost for the playoffs.

In addition, how is it fair for any school in district 6 to compete against the privates?

According to the PIAA website, districts are arranged by counties. D5 is Somerset, Bedford, and Fulton counties. How can schools in Cambria county move to D5?

Counties mean nothing. E.g., Laurel Valley and Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County along with all the District 7 schools. United, Marion Center, Penns Manor, Indiana County along with District 7.

I was told by someone that is on District 5 committee that DIstrict 6 would never release the teams you are mentioning.

FB fan1,

Maybe not. I honestly don't know if District 6 will release these schools. I'm just giving my opinion on why it would benefit Portage.

I was not disagreeing with you. Just stating what I heard. I would like to see more teams come into Dist 5. I think Portage and Claysburg makes the most sense geographically. But, wanting and getting of course two different things.

Dist 5 AA football playoffs will now have 3 teams. Look for Bedford to repeat again next year.
