psycho: Are you saying that Rugg wouldn't have gotten into Lehigh if it wasn't for football????? Couldn't he have been accepted on his grades alone??? I mean, if it took FOOTBALL to get him into engineering at Lehigh, then I'm not going to be the first one to drive over a bridge he designs.

Good to see all these kids move on and have a chance at playing college ball. Go out there and get a free or discounted education.

With that being said.. does anyone feel any of these kids will excel at the next level? I'm not sure what position Seidel will be playing? Domonkos will be a good kicker, but I doubt he will really contribute at a receiver/db spot. Rugg may get some playing time in the Patriot League. Gdula needs to hit the weights HARD and learn some technique if he wants to see playing time, and Glessner I feel doesn't have the speed or decision making yet to play quarterback at the college level. I'm hoping for the best for these kids, but this is just my personal opinion. If Seidel is going to play safety, he may be the safest bet. No position in college is easy to transition to.. but if there are any they are D-line, linebacker, and safety. Quarterback, WR, RB, and O-line being a much tougher transition

Give the kid credit for being accepted to Lehigh. He earned it with his academic performance, and not because of the advanced mathematical prowess of McCort's math teachers. Kids from across our region frequently get accepted at Lehigh and other prestigious schools because they are intelligent and studious. They are not in the paper because they don't play football.

Shane Cafferty, TE from Central, committed to IUP today but wont sign until Monday. He chose IUP over Shippensburg and Clarion.

Congrats to all those scholar/ athletes moving on to bigger things. A little side note: Did anyone else see the USA Today full page article on the 50 HS players? Who looked them over, especially Seidel. Each picture was accompanied by a little factoid of position/s played, high school name, and COACH's name. I for one did not see Ken Salem's name there, just some name I didn't recognize, not even close to Salem. Maybe the info on Josh Seidel was submitted by the worthless Trib-Dem and the even worse Cory Isenberg. No wonder it was screwed up. Surprised they got the young man's name right. Carry on, Mr. Seidel. Do well.

Thanks. He'll be playing defense at all those places.
