Bedford would have spanked NB also. I remember making a post after the 1st CR/NB match about how NB out hustled CR is many matches. Well it was the complete opposite tonight. With the exception of Gartland and Willie Sollenberger, NB was flat.

I was surprised that Ridge upset NB. Without Donatelli and Gartland pinning Yothers I didn't think we could get the win. Great job by Jake Deffibaugh catching Sollenberger and getting the winning pin.

Bedford will not win the State Gold this year. I really don't think that they will medal, to be honest (not enough horses). There are a handful of teams who would beat Bedford by 20 points or more. Reynolds, Boiling Springs, Ridgway, etc. are all better than Bedford. I would love to see Bedford and Forest Hills both do well, and maybe they can prove me wrong, but there are too many better teams (statewide) in AA this year. Good Luck to both Bedford and Forest Hills at Hershey!!!!!

I agree. District 3 has 2 teams alone that niether Bed or FH can beat. Add Reynolds and SSA I don't see anyway Dist 5 or 6 gets a place winner this year.

I think both schools will represent themselves well, but not sure either will bring home hardware. Pen Argyl certainly isn't a good first round draw for the bisons. If they get some breaks it is possible but they are certainly underdogs.
I would like to see them wrestle SSA. I think they can beat them. SSA has some holes and Bedford would have to have Thomas beat Alexander. However, Pittsburgh might not even be in the running if the national guard doesn't get cracking on this snow. Wouldn't that be something!!!

Pen Argyl is def. not a good match-up for Bedford on paper. Plus if they win that they would have Schuykill again which is an even worse match-up.

It's interesting though. You heard lots of Bitching about D-5 and Bedford during the football playoffs. Bedford being in when people thought they shouldn't have and not being fair to other teams and districts.

However D-5 who has had very competitive teams state wide over the past 5 or 6 years in wrestling including Bedford who has beat the District 6 champs and runners-up the past two years. Has to wrestle in 2 matches to get to the state quarters, while Four teams I think go straight to the state quarters.

With a 16 team bracket no one would get a bye. 12 teams actually make it to states. D-5 champ and 6 runnerup wrestle to get into the twelve team bracket. Then they have a preliminary match at states to reach the quarters. Where as some teams are straight to the quarters without any wrestle in or preliminary match.

In the last six years the District 5 champ has beaten the District 6 runner up every year. Starting with North Star and still happening with Bedford for the past three years. I guess D-5 will never get any respect and will still have to wrestle in just to make it to Hershey but the PIAA will never admit that they were wrong. The D-5 champ should still get the first round bye but their district isn't big enough like d6 d7 or d3. There's just too many politics involved and some districts get anything that they want.
