westpac championship
Re: westpac championship
A couple of comments on the game and season Smith will probably win the MVP because I think it always goes to a senior. Smith did play a bad game and did not hustle as much as I have seen from him before. A great player needs to effect the game by rebounding, getting steals, or assists when having a bad shooting night. I did not see this from Smith yesterday it appeared that he was down on himself andf he sort of quit. Anyone that has ever played the game of basketball has had a bad shooting night including Michael Jordan. I do think that Smith is a great basketball player and very good athlete but I saw on here where tuffnuts said he was a good football player and that is simply not what I saw when I watched Shade play 4 times in the last two years. Good athlete but not a good football player - he had no heart in football and I have heard this from other people. I tjhought Fleegle controlled the game with not only scoring but showing leadership by having several nice assists and Walker played great defense and is very good on the boards. I agree with the poster that said Strassier is a great athlete but lacks some of the basketball instincts that Smith,Gibbons,Fleegle, and Walker have and I think this is because they play more basketball from March to December than Strassier does.

vikingbb...now you went and did it. Tnuts will get on here and rant about Shade's fb coach and how he was the reason this player didn't play like the allstar that he is....wish you wouldn't have gone there..
Re: westpac championship
I don't listen to people who listen to second hand info. I saw smith letter 4 years in football and torch windber for 3 tds last year being double covered by clark and elasky and witherspoon from clairton who has a full ride to pitt as a wr was shut down by windber!!! Smith played with a broken leg all season and into bball until he found out, so he has heart!!! He never got a cast on and quit, and continued into hoops!! That is heart pal. If you think you know who I am call me on my home phone and I will enlighten you about sports man to man, instead of being cowards about everything. Smith also had 6 ints last year and every coach I talked to said to only stop smith and you win, and laughed at shades coach for taking him out of the offense. Ask berlin about smith? He torched them twice on an 80 yard kickoff return and then a minute later he caught a 50 yard td over 3 defenders. So get stories straight before you post about a 4 year letterman. Most of you kids who post on here are babies and have no heart and only play basketball because you don't have heart and talent to play 3 sports like smith! Let smith play hoops all year round like fleegle and gibbons and then you would see the difference. But personally smith is every bit the better player in the county that others are and he plays 3 sports. Straisser and walker are the likes of smith and will be better, and they are 3 sport standouts! You must have seen the shade football games that smith didn't start in the offense, because when he did the 4 games we won all of them with him scoring and leading in rushing and receiving yards along with tds!

Wow Tuffnuts.
How disheartening it is to read how you really feel about someone's teammates and those athletes you perceive as a threat to 'your guy'.
I am only too happy to know that your propaganda won't be spewed on this site next year.

You got that right I will not be on here thank god, and smith ability speaks for itself and comes from other coaches!! You guys are the ones on here cutting the kid down saying he has no heart! At least he played football and wasn't a baby to try! I just back the kid when you idiots cut him down and say guys are better. I don't start this crap, I just finish it! You kids could keep wishing against smith, but I don't think your statements will persuade the county coaches on what they saw all season long!! He always had the best on him and still put up good numbers and wins for his team as he led them past berlin, who you all said would win the west-pac. He was the only senior on this team that started and kept the young team together all season playing team ball!! This helped bring out other players like gibbons, kephart, knapp, and hart along with young fyock who looks up to tyler! He was the only starter back from last years team and getting 2nd place west-pac is a big acclomplishment to the shade team. Shade graduates 40-50 kids a class and north star grads 100-120 kids which has more players to choose from! Congrats to the young shade team and coaches for the achievment you acclomplished! Go get them in the districts!!!!!
Re: westpac championship
Tuffnuts by continually reciting Smith accomplishments and projecting onto others in light of Smith's unfortunate game, you open up him to criticism. We all know Smith and he is one heck of a ball player but instead of giving credit where credit is due you rationalize. Now we can say as a senior in a big game (it is a big game when they call it a championship) Smith did not show. Don't MVPs lead? Do you see how this works? I feel for Smith. This game is a culmination of a conference's season. You can't play it down because you don't like the results. Hears hoping that Shade makes it out of the d5. I'm not being factitious. That is a tough road. I hope Smith and Shade come back strong.

Thank God TN isn't the AD at Shade, we'd have to have new coaches every year because none of them know what the heck they are talking about! 2-3 zone would have been great, fleegle would def. get the MVP on the season then becuase he would have had 49 instead of 29 against shade.

Re: westpac championship
I may be mistaken, but I don't believe the Somerset Cty MVP has to be a Sr, as another poster states. I think it has been a Sr in the past that has won this, but I think underclassmen can and have been be nominated; they just never had the most votes.
Can anyone provide any additional info on this? Please set me straight if I'm wrong.

Re: westpac championship
I'm not going to argue with anyone over Tyler Smith he is a great athlete but not a good football player. Shade had one really good football player over the last two years and it was Jacob Hetzer. Let it die Tyler is a great atlete and a very good basketball player.
