There are AAU teams in the area. You are treating lakers like jimmy the greek. He is right about the nba and these are the best guys we have seen.I think we can field some competittive teams around here but our backs are to the wall.It is obvious who the best players are, some just don't like to say it because they are afraid they won't be politically correct or will be labeled a racist!

Re: Girls rule in D6
Thank you.
People wanna start complaining about what I said and say it's because kids around here get on facebook and play xbox... Guess what?!?! I also said SOCIOECONOMIC factors.. which is essentially the same thing. Some of you can keep your heads up ur butts and pretend that race has nothing to do with basketball, but deep down you know the truth. Thanks to the dude who posted all 5 or 6 white american starters in the NBA, anybody wanna post all the african american starters in the NBA.. or will it have to be seperated into two posts? Not only socioeconomic factors, but RACE have to do with an athletes development. You don't see many white runningbacks or white sprinters these days either, and there are a lot of poor white kids out there too people

Race is clearly a factor in NBA caliber athletics, but come on this is PIAA basketball, superior genetics are not a must.

I agree and disagree a little pats. There is less need for superior genetics in piaa ball, but still a big city that has privates will make this area look bad.Single and double "A" basketball is dominated by these schools.pats39 wrote:Race is clearly a factor in NBA caliber athletics, but come on this is PIAA basketball, superior genetics are not a must.
Re: Girls rule in D6
right but my only point is its not that the girls in D6 are magically more talented or more athletic, its they put in the time(AAU) and have the leagues, where as the guys are too busy playing football or in nonexsistent pick up games.
Re: Girls rule in D6
I cannot figure this out either but the girls are more successful in this area than the boys
In my opinion if you have a male athlete in your household baseball should be the focus. Your chances of going anywhere major in basketball, especially basketball, are slim. I think baseball has more focus in this region even though the weather is definately not conducive for baseball. Some kids focus on basketball but not like they do in baseball. That ERA Baseball program is packed with kids year round. In regards to hoops and success stories, the best I have witnessed is Adam Highberger (Blairsville) who is currently at Penn State playing. I believe he is injured. Also Joe Rocco (Northern Cambria) playing at DII powerhouse IUP is impressive.

Re: Girls rule in D6
The reason girls rule in D6 is because we put in the time. When I played AAU we played from beginning of April till end of July all over the east and midwest. Philly, NYC, DC, Pittsburgh, Columbus. We played the best competition in the best tournaments after freshman year. We had to earn the right to play the best teams -- not all AAU is the same. We played alot of the top kids in the eastern half of the country and Canada. As a result everyone who played on my team went on to play in college.
After going through AAU, high school competition was laughable. But we had to put in the time to make it so. Boys don't want to put in the time so the boys game is laughable.
