Carroll wrestles with Portage, though I don't know how many kids participate.

Bury the hatchet fellas. Be thankful that FH has a large enough group of athletes to be able to field competitive teams in just about any sport you can think of. Hell, they even have a rifle team now. Granted, thats only 5 people, including a couple girls, but there are a lot of hunters and believers of the 2nd amendment that this could spark more following in the future. Diversity at the H.S. level is OK. I love following, in no particular order, football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, and track. Most of these participants are thankful for the diverse sports offering at FH. Not every kid wants to play soccer, and not every kid wants to play volleyball, so there are other sports to get involved in. Read the papers and listen to the news occasionally. One of the predominant things these days is OBESE kids. Too much da##mn wii and xbox. Kids don't realize how lucky they have it. I wish I had the talent, and parents with the desire and finances, to see me play HS sports as a teen.

....When lakersfan called me "too old", I take that as a compliment. As most of you know, with age comes wisdom. I still don't know why FH can't be good at TWO sports. Naturally FH is a football school, just like Penn State is a football school. But in both cases, FH and PSU are proud of their wrestling programs, enough to be considered wrestling schools by those who know wrestling. Sure, the average schmuck at Penn State doesn't even know that PSU wrestling exists, but, as with FH, wrestling fans know all about their programs.
.... As mentioned earlier in this discussion, lakersfan is sold that football in our area is more competitive than wrestling. Really? Tell me, when the final 8 teams meet up in the "district duals" wrestling playoffs, are there any of these wrestling teams with losing or .500 records??? Don't think so. Of course, football is different. Alot of times in football, second tier football playoff teams have "subpar" records, but STILL continue to play. How competitive is that??? And when you look at the LHAC, the schools that wrestle each other have MUCH stiffer competition than you would see when these same teams take the football field. Of course, lakersfan had to bring up McCort and Carroll who play football but don't wrestle. So what? Carroll won only one game this year in football. And what about the football programs at Heights, Somerset, CC, PC, Westy? They don't always have good football teams, but year in and year out have representative wrestling programs. Even this year Bedford was not good in football, but look at their wrestling program. You see the same thing with CR, NS, CK, etc. Year in and year out, good wrestling competition.
....And lakesfan has stated that FH wrestling will not get recognition until they do better at the state level. The state dual tournament has only been in existance since about 1998. In those 12 years, FH has been to Hershey FOUR times. I think that is quite impressive. And FH made it to the FINAL FOUR in 2001, losing to Shadyside Academy by 9 in the semi-finals. What more does he want? Lakersfan is going to have to re-evaluate his thinking on FH wrestling. Maybe when he does get a little older, he will see my point of view.

MOLDO, you just pretty much agreed with my post. You keep trying to legitimize FH wrestling by posting their accomplishments when I recognized the program as one of the top in the area. You said it yourself, FH is a football schools, and like Penn State most people at FH don't give a darn about the wrestling program. That is all I stated, and you try to make it more. No one is belittling the accomplishments of these wrestlers, infact I commend them for their success despite this general consensus at FH.
