NCAA Rule Changes
http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id ... le-changes
=======================================================================
No more wedge blocks on kickoffs, which makes sense as it is a safety risk, but kickoffs altogether are a safety hazard as you have 22 people running full speed into each other anyway.
Also no more messages on eye black, such as how Tebow would wear with Bible verses, or Bush did with his area code. This rule change seems a bit unnecessary at the moment, I don't see how this affects the game at all.
For 2011, taunting is a live ball penalty and if done after a touchdown could take points off the board, and back the team up 15 yards from the spot of the foul. Can't say I agree with this one much either. The team clearly scored a touchdown, but because of taunting you don't get the touchdown? I don't know about that. I doubt we'll be seeing much taunting after a touchdown though, and if it happens that player will be running laps forever at the next practice.

Re: NCAA Rule Changes
The only way that they take the points off the board is if the taunting infraction happened before the player entered the endzone. Then it's 15 yards back from where the taunt started. Once they enter the endzone and the ref blows the whistle signaling the stoppage of the clock and the end of the play, the regular rule from the past years will be enforced.
It's not like if someone is caught celebrating in the endzone, they'll mark off 15 yards from the 3 or the 1 and make them score again.

Wow. Just call this the "SEC Rule"
Didn't the NFL come down hard on Jim McMahon back in 1985 for having messages on his head bands?

Re: NCAA Rule Changes
I think McMahon had an Adadis headband on. He was fined and the next game he wrote the commissioner name on the headband and was fined again
