Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
Nebraska, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Rutgers.
No Pittsburgh as yet. Will they get the 5th invite? Delaney supposedly prefers UCONN. What about Syracuse?
Syracuse has some leverage here. They have a very good relationship w/ Penn State, who undoubtably has a ton of say in eastern expansion.
Like I have been saying...
If not Notre Dame, and you take 3, in this order: Rutgers, Missouri, Pitt.
Pitt should never be the 1st choice. But as a 5th or a 3rd, absolutely.
Now, if ND is smart and they join... that changes everything. Then I think its ND, Rutgers, Missouri.
I am hoping Pitt gets in, but it will be very close. They will almost have to hope the B10 goes to 16.

Re: Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
I just figured Neb was a pipedream. They do have a very large fanbase and have a national identity, though. The thing that might snag Neb for the B10 is the turmoil the B12 could potentially be ready to go through. In all honesty, I think Missouri will be a slam dunk for B10 membership, since the school and state govt want in. If the SEC courts Texas and OU, the B12 is history. Colorado is also rumored to really want out of the B1e and into the Pac 10 (12?) Which the Pac 10 also wants. So what happens to the B12 as an entity? Is Neb really going to stay in a conference who's heavyweights now become Texas Tech and Oklahoma State? No chance in hell. Nebraska is really in contention here bc they may not have an alternative.
Those B12 schools are all unhappy bc of the internal politics that are so heavily dominated by Texas and OU. And the bowl payouts are a joke, bc the conference has no interest in promoting anyone than UT and OU. The B12 in my opinion will dissolve before the BE ever does, the B12 is the conference with the unhappiest folks and least stability.
If UT flirts w the SEC, which I guarantee you they at least consider and its probably already been discussed to gauge mutual interest, there's no chance in hell the B12 survives.

It's all going to be a big mystery until the first team or teams confirm a move. The domino effect will occur not long after that. Until that actually happens, no one really knows a thing except the guys behind the scenes. I'll guarantee you that none of them are talking about this point.

Re: Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
Today's paper said the 4 invites invite were all hogwash. That is not to say it may happen in the future but it hasn't happened as of today.
Be careful what you read and what rumors are spread! So strictly speculation up to this point.

Re: Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
Read between the lines here, though. Dont you think the B10 would "make some feelers" to see how much talk is generated and who all is interested? Did you see Nebraska's quote?

Re: Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
Extending an invite to "putting out feelers" are two very different things. I also said it may come in the future. Never did I doubt that. Just stating that no invite has been made. Maybe "Feelers" but no invite. Big difference if you ask me.

Re: Four Universities extended Initial B10 Invites
There's a lot going on behind the scenes that we will never know about. No one with any intelligence is going to come out and admit anything until it's actually confirmed. You have to protect yourself from the repercussions that may happen within your conference if you don't end up actually leaving.
