Lets not play the could have game. He "was" drafted in the 27th round, I do not want to hear all the stories of what could have been. I was going to call this in my last post and say the minute he is not drafted in the top 10 rounds there will be a story that follows of what could have been.

Austin Urban congratulations on being selected in the 2010 Major League Draft!! I wish you the best!

Well why would I make that up? I was the one that didn't think he had a shot in he'll to go top ten rounds. If anything I should have been one of the people to bash tommyt for being wrong

Here's Urban's own version of the "could have" gone in the Top 10 rounds story.

So if you didn't want to sign in the ninth round for slot money, that would indicate you're not going to sign period, right? Unless there's some long-term financial or collective bargaining benefit to taking less money at a lower slot... Someone smarter than me will have to explain that.

haha yeah makes a lot of sense? But what sucks besides him not taking a spot in the Top 10 rounds, He's stuck playing in a terrible baseball conference. Actually I heard Juco is a possibility, making him draft eligible after next season and maybe he'll take the cash this time. Just hope that doesn't hurt his draft status

Hopefully everything works out well for Austin. His story reminds me of a Northern Bedford graduate a few years ago in Randy Dickens. Hard throwing righty who went in the 33rd I believe, turned it down and lead the Nation in K's in JuCo. Ended up at Ship and got drafted again as a Junior (more mature-and better stuff) higher and for more money. Hopefully that is what works out for Urban.

Like someone said 88-92 is good enough to get drafted, but probably not enough to get you enough money to pass up a free education. I don't blame him or his dad for making that choice, and IMO, it was a good one. As long as he stays healthy he's going to get better. He has a good frame- and consistent mid 90's is not impossible for him in 2-3 years, and that I'm sure will get him what he is looking for.

The OG wishes Mr. Urban the best of luck- keep working hard and stay grounded and you'll get paid.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Does he start for CC? I do not even see his name in the maxpreps stats. If you are a soph and thrown 88 mph you should be able to play at CC.

The only thing Austing Urban is gulity of right now is working hard to get drafted. JThis area is becoming a soccer mom area, everyone wants a trophy and slap on the back. I am glad to see people on here and out in the general public think poorly of Austin. While Austin is getting paid to play baseball your stuck on here bad mouthing him and building an ego of your own. Guess what AU doesnt have the time to defend himself - hes busy out working your ***es.
