Re: Under fire! You better win or your gone!
I don't know the new numbers, but for the two year cycle just ended even with the Harmonary co-op only the three bishops, Richland , Westmont and Centeral Cambria are smaller, Heights leap frogs Westmont and C.C. with the co-op. Heights seems to be againist a move to the heritage but only the Lord knows why. Heritage membership hasn't seem to hurt Nortnern Cambria girls sports which at Heights tend to do better than most of the boys teams at C.H., it would renew all sports rivalery with Northern Cambria and move the football team from pretender to contender at the conference level.

Johnstown, Somerset, Forest Hills and Bedford are larger so it would be 5th largest or middle of the pack

Why did Harmony choose to coop with Heights? Didn't they coop with Purchase Line?

I don't know for sure but my best guess would be that one year, co-oping with harmony would have pushed Purchase Line from A to AA. So they probably cut ties. Co-op doesn't hurt Heights because they are AA either way.

With a move to the Heritage, Heights would gain back the NC rivalry, but lose Penn Cambria, Central Cambria, and Bishop Carroll. All close in proximity and also rivals.

Tubmill,
Harmony teads to be the real kickball when it comes to co-ops. I don't know all thier co-ops right now but they have co-oped with P.L., C. H. and even Glendale before in different sports. The rule of thumb for other school districts to co-op is it fine when it doesn't move that sport up a class. The only type of co-op that last when moving that sport up a class or more are the LigionerV./ Laurel V.; Blairsville/Saltsburg; Elderton/W. Shamokin; single school district type. Meyersdale has had Salisbury-Elk Lick (I think that's one leter/boy in the H.S.) as a one and off again co-op in football to name one such example

With Harmony, Heights are AA, without they are single A. But they see it as it doesn't really matter because it just means playoffs are different and they aren't looking to make a run at states or anything for that matter like McCort. McCort dropped for an easier ride. Harmony also bring players like Erik Welteroth, Jeremy Priester and Brandt Beck. Heights CAN win but obviously choose to play tough teams and lose then play in the heritage and win 7 games and get smashed in the playoffs. Players get better looks in the LHAC too. Heights only struggle harshly in football. Basketball has its ups and downs for both boys and girls and lately its up, especially with back to back D6 appearances. The other sports are near the 500 line all the time. I would say the Main reason they don't change conferences is because they still have the majority of the sports and if they change they will have to scramble around for games and the LHAC schools are bigger and also have those sports.

Penn Cambria shouldn't have trouble staying at all. They never put together 0-10 seasons and are always near 500. Sure they don't win district titles but only one team can remember? It is tough to do so when Forest Hills plays D6aa too. They do just fine year in and year out.

Yeah, but will it continue when Bailey finally decides to call it a career and Marabito takes over?
It ain't over until it's over.
