Can you picture it?
Can you picture a sellout crowd at PNC Park on August 7th and George Thorogood has nothing to with it?
Can you picture Pedro drilling homers to "Pedro's porch" in a game that actually matters?
Last night was a cool game to watch, disappointed I didn't go. But Man I can't even imagine being at PNC Park for a meaningful game? it would be incredible. Last night was great though....New catcher Snyder almost took out the foul pole on a rocket Homer, Garrett Jones who doesn't get enough credit, also destroyed a ball. The crowd seemed alive and it looked like fun. I just want to win so bad. I just want to see that stadium have some big games. Its possible.
Even for the truest Pirate fans that know that we're never going to win again, its hard not to like.....
Pedro Alvarez 23 years old....10 HR's and 29 RBI's in less than a 1/3 of the season so far. you times those numbers by 3 and that seems pretty good though.
Neil Walker 24 years old with an even .300 BA 5 Homers 31 RBI's in 58 games. This guy can hit.
Jose Tabata just about to turn 22(maybe?) but he also can hit, batting .302 and has been absolutely on fire all month long. Gotta love his speed..11 SB's.
Then you have McCutchen....hes 24. He's having a modest sophomore season. But has displayed greatness at times. He is legit. He can play and I think he has better seasons to come .287 9 and 33. plus 21 sb's
And I think Jones is the cleanup hitter until he fades away. And he hasn't done that yet. Some people don't like him, but dude has way better numbers then JBay, and if we don't have him? Whose our leader for homeruns and runs batted in? A bunch of guys with 10 or less and roughly 35 rbi's. I'm saying that .264 16 HR's and 63 RBI's are great numbers for not having protection around him for most of the season.
But man. 1-5 looks good for next season. Seeing Pedro hitting walkoff bombs is even hard for realistic Pirate fans to not get excited.

Not until they find some starting pitching.
The Lumber Company couldn't win with this pitching staff.
