Deonte Gibson, 6-3 225 Defensive End from St. Edwards in Cleveland chose Pitt.

Pantherlair seemed very surprised that he committed.

Picked Pitt over WVU,Stanford,Michigan State, Louisville, Cincy and Colorado and some MAC offers.

3 star prospect.
#37 Strongside DE on Rivals
#36 overall in Ohio.

I guess its a good pickup? Never knew he was on the list for Pitt. Maybe takes Pitt out of the running of Max Isaaka.

But Wanny won't be going too much harder at defensive linemen.

He is raving about the 4 freshmen Dlinemen.

In ESPN the magazine yesterday they had the players from each conference vote on who they think is the best coach, top team, top player....It was interesting to see how many in the Big East picked Pitt, Lewis and Wanny. They had good things to say about his recruiting, etc.

These are the guys who really know. They get a first hand look year in and year out. Not TAE - the 8th grade chess club and dungeons and dragons champ from THE Forest Hills. :shock:

Haha but seriously. Wanny rarely gives shout outs to Freshmen unless they are really good. Pitt redshirts just about everyone nowadays, except the really good ones. I.e. Lewis,McCoy,Mason,Baldwin.

Aaron Donald the freshmen DT is getting a lot of good recognition. I don't see him getting redshirted.



But Pitt now picked up their 14th commit, Max Issaka of New Jersey. I guess having Gibson commit made no bearing on him.

6"2 228 pounder from Woodbridge,New Jersey. 4.6 speed. Had offers from UVA,Rutgers,Nc State,Mich State,Maryland and some small schools.

Rated as a 3 Star.
24th rated weakside Defensive End
13th best player in New Jersey.

That leaves Pitt with 3 maybe 4 sports left in this recruiting class.
