The Man, The Legend...
Joe Paterno "The Man, The Legend" has earned the respect and admiration of all College Football.
Even though PITT with Pop Warner and Doc Sutherland had its share of National Titles and All Americans when Joe was in diapers (not now, but for the first time) and PSU was a farmer's college and PITT won another title before Joe won his first one PSU, Paterno should still be saluted and revered by all.
It is no shame for Penn State football that Joe Paterno has not been able to create more players than PITT in the NFL and College Hall of Fames, All Century Teams, and the NCAA and NFL record books, but he did a fantastic job trying to catch up.
Has Paterno really tarnished his image through his self-promoting ego and pettiness ending of the PITT-PSU Series? No, it’s all a conspiracy. Joe’s lack of discipline and the many arrests of PSU Players have left deep scars and unforgiving hurtful pain for students (and their parents) who were raped, beaten, terrorized, and even murdered. We at PITT thank God none of PITT Coaches ever recruited and played a murderer like PSU Player LaVon Chisley. We PITT Fans prefer taking a loss than having innocent people lose their life.
Joe's unquestionable intergity is punctuated by wins handed to him by Official Don Guman who cheated for him and got Joe his first NC (see MCCloskey's catch) in 1982. Even Donnie couldn't help his buddy Joe with his LOSING records against Iowa 5-8, Michigan 5-10, Ohio State 6-11, & Wisconsin 6-6 since 1993.
Isn't it fantastic that Joe has made Penn State's football program the 4th best in the Big 10 over the last 2 decades?
It appears that Joe Paterno will die with his final game against PITT being a 12-0 Shutout loss and the series a thing of the past. With Paterno’s retirement, the age old nepotism that he has embraced will also be a thing of the past in Happy Valley. The practice of Penn State hiring 37 relatives of Joe and Sue's including his late brother and son, and daughters, will perish.
While PITT professors cured Polio, PSU was still just an agrarian college. PITT did not patent or trademark that discovery that could have made billions for PITT, because they wanted to save lives. Meanwhile, Joe has donated thousands and even millions from his own salary (BTW, a salary that is paid by TAXPAYERS and which he refused to have revealed until a court forced him to do so) to the library at PSU. He is a humble old man, because he never does this for self promotion, even though there has always been a camera crew or newspaper reporter available at the press conference announcing his library donation.
In spite of all of that, overall his accomplishments outweigh his personal cover ups, conflicts of interests, players failures and public relations sins.
It is good that Joe Paterno was able to finally win two national titles after PITT won 9. It is also nice to see Penn State Students do not riot as much as they did with drunken attacks on State College businesses, cars, and homes as much as before. The ESPN Show Outside The Lines documenting Penn State Players Arrest under Paterno established Penn State as one of the dirtiest College football programs in history, which rivals The ‘U. Joe was so ashamed of report and scolded PSU fans, students, that he excused it a "Witch Hunt" when it involved his inability to oversee the discipline of PSU Players that was taken away from him by the PSU Judicial Board and Centre County DA office.
I don’t know about you, but I’m sure glad that Paterno is saving the integrity of college football through such a GRAND EXPERIMENT, rather than leaving things to the Switzers and Sherrills of the world.
Now you NITTERS have a right to be proud of such a coach with sound integrity and character, and the most wins of all time since Bobby Bowden’s wins were taken away by the NCAA and since he was all but fired from his own job. When Joe was asked by his superiors to step down with dignity and class, they were promptly thrown off of his property with the door slammed in their faces.
We at PITT are glad that we do not accept the many Walk-Ons who do not graduate from High Schools or lack the NCAA academic qualifiying standards for a HS diploma or SAT Scores. To support this, PSU has created “academic” programs unworthy of even technical school or community college status. No one is perfect, but Pitt has done well without all the resources, revenues, and scandals experienced by Penn State in the Big Ten.
PITT can be proud of their accomplishments that Joe Paterno has chased for many years just as well. PITT Fans, Alumni, and Students enjoy Athletic Seasons in the Top 25 from August to April in the two major NCAA sports.
Good Luck in Women’s Volleyball and Fencing this year. While you’re packing the BJC to watch volleyball and fencing, we will be watching a top 10 men’s basketball team.
PITT was just fine before Joe Paterno and is doing quite well during Joe Paterno’s current tenure, and will be stable for a long time after Joe Paterno. We Pitt fans hope and pray that Joe Paterno will coach another 10 years, and then that the succession plan involves his son Jay.
Joe Paterno…The Man, The Legend.
Indeed.

Re: The Man, The Legend...
I can afford to pay a PSU grad $0.45 to iron my shirts, thank you very much.
What's that major called? Oh that's right, it would be Textile and Sheep Wool Management. It's right up there with Wood Products, Turfgrass Sciences, Animal Sciences, and Kinesiology.

Re: The Man, The Legend...
Actually the major you are referring to is called WPinheAdLology. Its totally based in irrational thoughts and ramblings of a anti Penn State fan.
