If we are having a similar conversation about Bolden next year, I'll give you guys credit, but to judge a TRUE Freshman QB as if he has been there for 2 years is beyond ridiculous. I mean heck give the kid an offseason of working with the receivers and learning the offense in and out and then judge him on whether he will ever get better. For once, I agree with Shocker. Has the kid regressed or has the competition gotten a little better. It drives me nuts to see Penn State fans blaming the QB for them not doing anything. Has anyone seen this offensive line? I mean the center today doubled teamed the right defensive end on a 3 man rush and let the guy right in front of him go to the qB. I'd rather have this kid in right now learning on the job than watching a walkon named Mcgloin or Newsome. Have you seen newsome's throws when he has gotten a chance? Do you guys think he's going to do any better? For those saying Bolden is what he is and will never get any better, I'd just like to hear a few examples of True Freshman QB's who came on campus a few months ago that have led teams to an undefeated record and looked great in doing so. Just name a few.

I guess you didn't see where I blamed the coaches.

I'm not referring to you about blaming Bolden for the loss. I'm talking about what ive read on other messageboards. However, I do think it's absurd to think that this is the same Bolden we will see throughout his career. I've seen enough of him to have a good idea that he is going to be a pretty darn good player by the end of his time at the school even with jay being his qb coach. I just think he gets it and will work at it until he is where he wants. Kids just don't come on to campus and rip teams to shreds. He will grow from this year and be a better qb because of it.

Also, I think Pitt fans that rip Sunseri and want Bostick are crazy too. The kids a sophmore. Has a strong arm. Has a strong desire to win. Tries to be a leader (Although the cocking off to the crowd after scoring to make it 20-10 today left a lot to be desired of his attitude) I think that kid has a lot of potential, but like most fans they want to run him out of town because he didn't jump into the qb position and have Ptt as a well oiled machine.

There is a reason why teams with second and third year starting QB's are usually pretty good

He's only going to get better if someone shows him how to do that. I feel very bad for those players. That staff is very scatterbrain right now.

This was a post a few weeks back from someone on this board who felt Bolden is ready and will be fine.....

"I'll say this about Bolden, he was on campus for 6 weeks before he beat out Newsome. Newsome was on campus since January of 2009.

- Winter workouts
- Spring practice
- Camp
- An entire season
- Winter workouts
- Spring practice
- Camp

And Bolden still won that job.

I think Rob Bolden is already better than Morelli and Clark. He needs to learn to avoid hits, though. He'll be fine. For a freshman, his composure and play is remarkable."

Now we are recanting after some good competition. I really feel if psu was still playing the likes of kent state people would still feel Bolden is okay. But after playing 2 or 3 quality teams people are in panick mode.

This happens every year in happy valley. Once the real teams roll onto the schedule they see just how good these guys really are.

And blaming the coaches is the easy way out. And Im not saying psu coaches are great by any means but come on, it doesn't rely solely on the coaching staff.

Shocker, there's no way you graduated from high school.

If the kid is already better than previous qbs under jays tutelege, what does that tell you about Boldens potential under that same tutelege? Nitwit apologists love Darryl Clark. That kid could not even make a practice squad. He is the third QB on a CFL team. He is also a guest writer for Blue and White illustrated. That's where Jay takes you.

Boldens raw talent is better than Morelli, Mills, and Clark after those 3 being there for YEARS. There is nothing you cqn look at that suggests he will be anything more than slightly better in 2012 than he is in 2010.

It's coaching, bud. Have you seen the playcalling? Have you seen the offensive line?

There is NO way you played any high school sports!

When was the last offensive stud psu had? Was it coaching or the kid who made him that way?

How bout all the linebackers at psu? Is it Bradly or the kids who get them there?

Jaepa is bad I agree, but if a kid is a great athlete he can make any coach look good.

Is urban meyer a bad coach this year? Or is the talent dropping and competition getting better? So every kid who starred in college but flopped in the nfl had poor nfl coaches?

There is more to it than bad coaching at psu.

You're missing it, and I am not surprised. Listen. When there are patterns across lineages of positions, and those patterns reveal the same mistakes, how can you blame the kids?

There are 2 offensive linemen in the NFL from Penn State.

And to think you were arguing in an earlier thread about all the great x psu players in the nfl. hmmm.

I agree with you that psu coaching sucks. I also agree with you that psu cant produce good nfl talent.

But to say it is all coaching, you are wrong. And that doesnt suprise me coming from someone who never played a down of football in their life. psu is now playing better competition. You will now see alot of areas that need improved. They are not playing youngstown state and kent state.

You even said yourself that Bolden will be fine (see blue highlight in my earlier post).

Better teams and players will expose inferior players.....and coaching. But the players need to step up as well. It is not all coaching at psu. Those 4 and 5 star athletes need to step up.

Once again, totally off base.

They bring.in 4 star talent yearly. You are telling me that none of those kids work hard? Give me a break. It's totally development. Shocker, this crap has been happening for over a decade.
