ICC Week 8

Post by rainmaker »

6-0 last week :D , 34-8 on the year

Tussey Mountain (4-3) @ Southern Huntingdon (4-3)
The Titans got back to their winning ways last week with a win at Williamsburg. Coy went off for over 200 yards again. I wasn't shocked by the score because Williamsburg really isn't all that bad. They have just been unlucky. This was another unlucky week for them as they made a few mistakes that really hurt them. Southern ran into the NBC buzzsaw last week. This is the first game of the year at Southern because they had to get new bleachers. To me this game is about who has the better single performance, Coy or Reed? Give me Coy as the Titans get their 5th win on the season.

Tussey Mountain 30
Southern Huntingdon 20

West Branch (1-6) @ Moshannon Valley (3-4)
West Branch has what I thought was an improved team, but they lost to Claysburg two weeks ago. Had they won that game I might have thought about picking them over Mo Valley. The Black Knights are ending the season on a high note and could have a 5 win season rolling into the playoffs if they win here. They will.

Mo Valley 27
West Branch 12

Northern Bedford (7-0) @ Mt Union (2-5)
Mount Union got McDonald back and he ran for over 150 yards against Everett. The week before, House played, but he didn't play against the Warriors. What is going on with the backs down there? With House and McDonald, I feel this team could be 4-3 instead of 2-5. Northern Bedford stomped SH last weekend. Preston Albright is their workhorse as he went for 5 touchdowns in the win. Northern won't let Mount Union get in their way of 9-0.

Northern Bedford 38
Mount Union 13

Glendale (4-3) @ Claysburg (2-5)
There is no way that Claysburg can defend Jenny. I think the Vikings will want to really put it to these guys too as they try to right the ship before the playoffs gets started.

Glendale 46
Claysburg 7

Williamsburg (1-6) @ Everett (0-7)
For two weeks in a row, Williamsburg has shown the ability to hang with and beat some teams. They almost got Tussey last week. Everett was close in their attempt as well, but they fell short at Mount Union though and that is the team that Williamsburg beat. The Blue Pirates have the offense that if doing better at this point in the season so I have to take them don't I? These two take it to overtime this week.

Everett 20
Williamsburg 19

Game of the Week: Juniata Valley (7-0) @ Bellwood (6-1)
Juniata Valley has scored 247 points and they have allowed 64.
Bellwood has scored 305 points and they have allowed 72.

This game is for all the marbles in the ICC North and it looks to be a clash of two hard running teams. Juniata Valley is young and they are doing this well. It is scary to think about the next year or two this group will have. Bellwood was expected to maybe be a little bit down compared to teams of the past and I think that has made them as good as they are now. Why would anyone doubt the Blue Devils? EVER?!?! Bellwood has 6 guys on their team with over 100 yards rushing on the year. Travis Taylor leads them with 835. Juniata Valley is lead by Ethan Morrison who has piled up over 1000 yards on the season. A surprising stat to many will be how effective that Carper has been. He has passed for over 600 yards on just 29 completions! The Hornet passing game has been very effective. Luke Evans has put up similar numbers with just 33 completions for Bellwood. The leading receivers for each team both have 12 catches or less. You can see that their passing games do very well because of how good they are at running the ball. All that said, I think with the game being at Bellwood and JV being a younger team, Bellwood will pull this one out to once again win the North. JV has an attacking defense that blitzes a ton. I guess I feel that to Bellwood isn't ready to give up being king of the hill.

Juniata Valley 20

I guess I just haven't gotten around to it, I'm a busy man!

Glendale will blow out Claysburg. The Vikings have way to many athletes for the Bulldogs to account for.
Glendale 40 Claysburg 14

Northern Bedford big over Mount Union. If House and McDonald could have found a way to be on the field at the same time this team would be .500 or better. I for one expected a lot more out of this Trojan team, maybe the past few solid JH teams just had kids the matured early?
NB 41 MU 6

Williamsburg/Everett should be a good game, even though they are both poor teams. Everett is much better on the line while Williamsburg has an edge with their skill players. Lee throws for 2 TD's and runs for another in a Blue Pirate win.
Williamsburg 22 Everett 20

Tussey/Southern Huntingdon should be another interesting game with playoff implications. Both teams could benefit from wins here. Both teams had very similar results against common opponents (strugled against w-burg, everett, spanked by NB). Goshorn missed most of the 2nd half last week so his health is an issue. Without him it won't be the same Rocket team. I'll take Tussey coming off a win last week.
TM 20 SH14

Mo Valley over West Branch easily, 35-13.

Juniata Valley has a great opportunity to make some people believe. Both teams have basically dominated every opponent with the exception of BA/Tyrone. Although I believe JV is a solid ball club, its reallllll hard to bet against the Blue Devils.
