Re: UMichigan Defense...
I watched a 1AA school New Hampshire play and their defense is better than UM's, faster and better coached.

Crimson....What QB hasn't played with Poise and confidence against Michigan this year? Their defense is horrible. Every QB has looked good against them. Last week Bolden was shredding Minnesota and Mcgloin came in and looked about half as good and made some very poor decisions. I'm pretty confident Bolden would have looked just as good last night. I wouldn't get too excited about how a kid looks against Michigan.

I'm not too excited, I just never really got too excited about Bolden looking good against Kent State and Youngstown State either.

Well for a Saturday Night Football watcher, it was Michigan-PSU or the big Minnesota Buckeye game. My options were limited.

Watcher? I went to bed at halftime. Had I continued to watch that dud, I'd have surely gone blind.

The knock on Bolden is that he is a very silent presence in the huddle. McGloin is not. I'm not sure what you do, is Bolden the clear starter or a guy who is a field leader? I'm guessing McGloin and Newsome both transfer. I don't blame a kid for leaving bc he wants to play.

Re: UMichigan Defense...
I believe I just read last week that Mcgloin says he will never leave PSU to try somewhere else. I'll take him for his word on that.
As for Newsome, if he feels he can be a solid QB somewhere then best of luck to him. I've seen nothing from him to suggest he will ever be a good passing QB. His throwing motion and arm strength are atrocious. He would be better suited to move to Running back or Safety.
I believe what Penn State will probably see is Newsome and Paul Jones Transfer.

There's a difference between loyalty and foolishness. If Matt McGloin has a chance to go to Youngstown State and be a serious I-AA draft candidate, he needs to take it. Dont stay at Penn State and sit the bench just because you like the Creamery. He's gotta make the smart decision. So does Newsome, and so does Paul Jones. I wouldn't blame any of those kids for leaving.

I'm not disageeing with you that it's foolish. Just repeating what I read. I believe it was a tribune review article early last week. I don't think Mcgloin has anywhere near the talent to play in the NFL however. He doesn't have the arm. Maybe CFL or arena league.
