I could see Homer giving them trouble. BC is so one dimensional.

Thanks though.

Yeah I just read yours, I agree if McCort played in the ICC and likely the Westpac,Heritage they would definitely be better then their 6-4 record. I mean they've only played 2 A schools all year.

Both teams appear to be balanced. Both teams aren't very big.

I could see McCort pulling off the "upset". In the past 3 weeks, they got a senior Running Back back from a season long injury(Pat O'Reilly). Many believed this kid would be the team's primary ballcarrier. And they also got starting receiver, Jerqual Wilson back.

The skill position situation at McCort are in the best shape all season long. Lots of speed.

Both coaching staffs are so good. Bellwood the past two years was easily good enough to beat McCort. They are a solid program. I'm excited about this one. It could come down to a touchdown or less.

Crimson and rainmaker,

The thing I've noticed this year is that McCort and Bellwood don't have any big guns everyone is talking about. Last year it was Seidel/Domonkos and McCaulley/Plummer. The year before that it was Lowry/Wadley and Gray/McCaulley. I think it's going to be a great game, I just wonder if McCort has the horses upfront to hold the Blue Devils at bay long enough to pull off the upset.

As for BC and Homer, I think BC has the potential to run roughshod all night. Heritage Conference ball typically is a different animal compared to the rest of the district. Fun (lame) fact, before they got left out of the old Appalachian Conference in 1999 BC beat Homer-Center 49-0. First time they have played since.

Is it really an upset though? If McCort played an A schedule they would be 7-2 or 8-1. I, myself, keep forgetting that. I usually hold McCort to such a high standard, and they are wayyyy down from their usual selfs, but you have to take into consideration that their 4 losses came to an 9-1 AAA school, a 9-1 AA team and two other AA playoff teams....

Based on strength of schedule then I might say no. McCort opponents, 51-38 through 10 weeks versus Bellwood opponents, 41-48. I understand what you’re saying; after losing so many starters from last year I didn’t have high hopes for this McCort team. I think coupled with the fact that Bellwood has blown out everyone they have played with the exception of Juniata Valley and the early and only loss to Tyrone, a win would be considered an upset based on perception.

I've been following Bellwood fairly close, haven't seen them play this year, but I know a little about them. For some reason I'm still not sold on them. Their top guys are, well, TINY! Their skill players are fairly tough kids, but they are pretty small. Beech, Shaw, Evans, those guys are all like 5'9". I think McCort will have the advantage as far as skill players go. But somehow Bellwood continues to get the job done impressively. Also, McCort has improved a lot over the course of the season. Who were the other teams they lost to? Was it PC and CC? I think BM would beat both of them if they played now.

yeah CC and PC. They would most certainly beat Penn Cambria if they played now, and CC-Bm was a one point game in week 2, and I think it would be that close again if they played.

McCort's line is pretty solid
Hornick is experienced, he started every game last year.
Rugg is 6-5 and about 275. He is big and has D1 potential.
McAneny is another big boy 6-1, 6-2 range probably around 240. He has been good.
Young Barbin is tall and isn't quite as bulky as the other 3, but he does lead this team in tackles. He is a smart kid, and football player.

FYI, this is the smallest McCort team I have ever seen. Outside of these 4, its a bunch on little guys.

What does the Bellwood starting line look like?

And no doubt McCort playing AA teams all year and more competitive teams is an advantage McCort. I mean Bellwood starters go in and probably have only finished 2 games all year. McCort at least has played in tight game situations

McCort got beat in two tightly contested games with CC and PC to start the year. Beat Richland in a two point game. went toe to toe with AAA favorite Johnstown. played a solid contest with BC, and won.

In Bellwood's 9 games they got beat handily by Tyrone. Since then they're closest game was a 14 point win, they're next closest was like 37 points?

I mean how will Bellwood's QB fair, if the game is on the line and he needs to drive 67 yards down the field late in the 4th quarter? He hasn't had to do it.

Cooper on the other hand has had to make a few big throws.

crimson you make a great point about mccort having been more battle tested this year then bellwood has, playing in close games in the regular season is always a plus come palyoff time. just look at last years mccort team weren't in a close game all year then come time for the bellwood game at mansion that almost came back to bit them they trailing after each of the first 3 quarters before pulling it out in the 4th. also look at the jtown/fh match up last week jtown had been in a few close games, unlike the rangers, and in the end that seemed to favor the trojans and help them pull the upset

I personally dont think the bellwood/mccort game will be that close. bellwood moves on to a rematch with jv.
