Richland Should have made playoffs
Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
Tell you what pats - I will agree that Richland ran the wrong scheme for the first few weeks if you agree that it had no impact on the fact that they couldnt tackle BC, FH, or JHS. Agreed. Just man up, work hard and get them next year rather than cry in your cereal.
Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
Agreed their defense wasnt the best, and wasnt going to just dominate games, although greatly improved from past years. doesnt change the fact the coaches messed up big time.
FH and Jtown sure may have not made a difference except game being closer
BC could have made a HUGE difference. Bishop Carrol couldnt stop richlands running game either, except richland didnt give their RB the ball. He was averaging 2 more yards per carry than carrols RB, yet only got the ball 8 times vs BC RB's 25, there is the difference without taking into the fact Richland threw 31 times and of course threw 2 pics. Joke
BM too, they might not have thrown much but still were WEEKS behind in terms of reps. Again McCorts FB got the ball 23 times and Richlands 11 times, and they rushed for the SAME amount of yards. Apparently richland didnt see the point in giving the ball to a back averaging almost 8 yards a carry in a game.
Last year on here after the season i said "It will be interesting to see if BB switches to a run orientated offense or is stubborn/lazy and tries to make the passing scheme work". Guess what happened...
Ill stop complaining when i see some actual positive changes and progressive thinking and planning.
Will be interesting next year to see what he tries to do. In my opinion, packages should be as follows in order of usage
1)double wing and iformation- Get the big RB a head of steam and lead blocker in I and big runs will come. Quick hitters with RB in point stance along with running the wing counters could make some big plays-scaled down version of what mccort does. With a much improved line could be a good package. Also it will be a sophomore QB, so this would be a great way to take the pressure off him yet still get him experience. Play action and boots would be cake.
2) Zone read/wildcat offense they ran towards end of year. Got the hang of it and had decent success. Put the ball in your 4 year starters' hands and let him work the zone read with another skilled RB .
3) Spread passing- richlands traditional sets. Imagine them doing them double wing, getting gains but drawing 9 in the box, then the very next play without switching personnel going shotgun and stretching
the field. Depends on how QB is doing but would be a nice 3rd option.
Again, unless BB finally puts the time in the off season to implement this and stops being so set in his ways, my guess is it will unfortunately be 3rd and 2nd option , with the 1st option never happening.

Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
How good was Richland before BB was there?
Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
that was 10 years ago, look at how almost ALL richland sports have improved in that time span. The previous richland coach would have done well too, except he was canned after a few losing seasons(one 5-4 season i think), whereas this coach at 0 win and 2 win campaigns but stayed on until better years.
saying "oh but hes had a winning record 3 times" does not excuse the above post and the display this last season and seasons past, nor does it excuse settling for whats easily attainable and convienant.
But hey, if all fans are content with beating on average 1 team with a winning record per season in his past 4 "good" seasons, then I guess there is no need to complain or fault any one.
but hey im just a bleachercoach right. If anyone thinks my observations are wrong or off the mark, tell me how.

Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
High School Football is a game. An athletic competition between STUDENTS. They are not professionals. However, by analyzing every single play to the nth degree and pointing a finger at the Bailey everytime things don't work out for the Rams is completely wrong. It also places way too much of a priority on football than, hmm I don't know - academics and education. That is what the Richland faithful should be pleased with. Bailey has improved their program, spirit, and facilities immensely under his watch while maintaining academic and educational excellence.
With that being said, if everyone had your viewpoint, then the Richland kids shouldn't get any credit for winning the games they did this year. They shouldn't get any credit for being good athletes either. A good athlete is measured by the success he had on the field. If every parent, fan and every school approached their opinions the way you do, then the Richland football team shouldn't get any credit for winning six games.
Actually, the coaches at Bedford, Somerset, Westmont, Cambria Heights, Bishop Guilfoyle, and Central Cambria should all be FIRED for losing to Richland because everyone knows that Richland doesn't have a quarterback or a passing game anymore. The other coaches should be fired for not loading up the box and doing everything they could to stop the running game. And if they did do those things, then they should be fired because even though they tried to stop the run, they didn't figure out the right way to do it. Instead of running a 5-2 or a 6-3 they should have run a 6-5 or a 5-5 Whatever, they lost and they should be fired. They also should be fired because they failed to come up with an offensive scheme to run the ball right at Richland because as everybody else knew they couldn't stop the run to save their life or their season early in the year. So even if they did try to run, they should be fired because they didn't run an option, or a power, or blast, or jet sweeps, or the wildcat, or the single wing, or the double wing, or the veer, or the pistol, or play-action, or misdirection.
I could go on with this for as long as you'd like, but I won't because it is quite idiotic. No matter what you claim Bailey did wrong, it is still a game played by kids. You need to remember that the other team is playing the game, too.
The bottom line is that every time you post and criticize the same thing over and over again, it suggests a few things: 1. You live in a fantasy world. Despite all your knowledge of football and your evaluation and perception of the STUDS that play for Richland, you have no grasp of reality. The other teams has players, and they want to win, too. 2. You have a grudge against Bailey. Apparently, it was coach Bailey's fault that you didn't get to play in the NFL, and you hold such a grudge that you now spend all of your free time criticizing his every move and decision on an internet message board. 3. This one explains 1, and 2. You have an ingrained belief that everything you say and do is always and unequivocally correct. (Visit my previous posts for more of this Richland mentality). I am going to guess that when you missed answers on a test in school that Mommy and Daddy made sure the teacher knew that you were right, and that the teacher just asked the question the wrong way. 4. You lack self-control and the ability to listen to reason. Despite the fact that basically everyone on here disagrees with your extreme bias against Bailey and the fact that you blame none of the Richland shortcomings on the players you continually make posts that blame Bailey. (If it isnt the way you want it it s Bailey's fault because no one including yourself likes Bailey.)
Regardless of what influence a coach has on a game, in the end it comes down to the players. Until the Richland parents, players, and the fans realize that, then you will be watching a different game than 99% of the posters on here. I mean when WestPAC fans and LHAC fans and McCort fans and Forest Hills fans and Portage fans and JHS fans and BC fans all agree on the same thing, then it must be right. And you my friend must be wrong.

Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
Again, you can try to psychological evaluate me or whatever all you want. Whys it so hard for you to admit that trying to run the traditional passing offense this year was idiotic and put richland behind when it finally didnt work? Yes the players play the game, but its the COACHES job to put the players in the best position to win games. Talent goes in cycles in public schools and is either developed and utilized fully, or not. With most of the richland current players the talent is there, mainly because of good numbers and the richland pewee league.I dont have an extreme bias. I have never really complained much about him until i saw what a joke this year was trying to fit his current players into richlands offense of past. Talk about a fantasy world. But Maybe im wrong, its the richland players fault that none of them could throw like ramariez or they didnt have a bunch of returning WR's.
Spend all my time on here? I have made like 3 posts about it in the past month. Im not that one that always believes everything I do is right. I am very open to change, adaptation, and improvement. I dont hold on try to make something work just because its easier or i did it last year. Its easy for people that see richland play once a year and see the W-L's and the passing yards to just assume he does a decent job. Show me a richland fan, former coach, teacher, fan with no connection to the program at all, anyone familiar at all with the program who claims that he does a good job by any means in terms of coaching and displays any positive leadership qualities whatsoever. Next time you see a player for Richland, one who maybe had a lot of good stats or won awards or whatever, the ones who clearly didnt get slighted by Bailey in any way, ask me what they think of him as a coach or person. Guarantee it isnt much.

Re: Richland Should have made playoffs
Again, the head coaches of CH, BG, Somerset, Westmont, CC, and Bedford should all be fired because they knew Richland couldn't pass. They knew they were going to run and they did nothing to stop them. Every team that underachieves should blame their coach, and every objective kid who still roots for his team should post on bleachercoaches that their coach should be fired.
Maybe that sounds condescending, but every poster possesses a little bit of hubris at their core. We are all knowitalls. But what most of us are not, are whiners. Sorry, but you do sound like a whiner. And each post begs for the wambulance. I don't think anyone is going to disagree on that one.
