Re: Saturday Night Scores
This will be the lowest gate in the history of D6 football playoffs. Two teams playing with no community to back them. Play the game at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, what is the difference? No one will be there.

Re: Saturday Night Scores
Its actually annoying from both ends, PA crying about recruiting and BM crying that they dont. The fact is mccort gets recruits, the fact is this isnt going to change, the fact is Portage will not get any better or gain ground on BM or BC crushing Ferndale and Conemaugh Valley, while they are in great games with FH & Jtown.
The Laurel Highlands is an extremely tough conference and will be dominant every year. Look at Bedford, before they entered the LH, they won d5 every year. Then they combine the 5-6 playoffs for years and Bedford didnt come close. Then last year, they get crushed in the LH and wins a d5 title. wow BM vs BC for the A title, FH in the AA championship and Jtown wont he AAA title. Thats impressive for the LH

Well gg to McCort they really had to fight for this one. And all of this bashing the WestPac needs to stop. We just hung the the CV/Ferndale/Westmont All-Stars for 4 quarters. I'm not hating but it's the truth. But honestly both teams played hard the entire game and as I said it would at the least be closer than people thought. Yeah McCort had a couple sloppy penalties but looking at it from my side, we had some sloppy play ourselves, the shanked punt, kickoff out of bounds, getting stopped 5 times in the red zone without a score. Hell we probably out-gained you guys by a good 150 yards. Plus two long passes which the cb misplayed both. Not saying you shouldn't have caught them but the coverage was horrible. Again, you guys played good, your a good team, and next week it'll be a good game but once again you guys along with BC are playing lesser competition and still hold huge advantages.

WoW, StraightOutta Portage this is actually a really good post from you for once. It hits almost every key point i would have stated. First and foremost credit to McCort and their earned victory, i'm not here to take ANYTHING away from them. Now here is just a few keys that really just had me shakeing my head for the Mustangs....
#1 - You have 4th and Goal from the 1, why run Jet Sweep and try and run 10 yards to the outside instead of using your 6'5" QB on a sneak or your power back Kostan on a Dive? Ultimately getting the sweep stuffed of course and no points.
#2 - You haven't ran a "rugby style" punt formation/play all year, why bust it out now? Which the punt ultimately got blocked and set up a short field and a score for McCort
#3- Now i'm not gonna name numbers or names or anything to be nice, but its not a coincedence that BOTH 50+ yard completions(1 for a TD, the other to the 1yd line) for McCort were thrown against the same corner for Portage. He's been a liability all year but unfortunately they refuse to replace him and it cost us BIG tonight again.
#4 - With 6:00 mins+ to go and only down 7 points, why call a pass play on 1st and 10 after the kickoff when you've been(for the most part) running the ball all over McCort? Then the pass is intercepted and turned into another McCort short field TD.......
#5 - This is just a question really to anyone that went to the game. On Portage's second drive down into the red zone, the mustangs were called for Illegal man downfield penalty after about a 25 yard pass to the Tight End inside the 15.......Was the penalty called on the Tight End? Or was there something I couldn't see from my viewing point? I could see/hear gouse was LIVID on the sideline about the call so i'm guessing thats what they called? I'm not really "bitching" about the call just was curious to see if i missed something obvious. Of course after the penalty the drive stalled and no points.

Re: Saturday Night Scores
^ Totally agree on just about all of those points, once that last deep pass was thrown I knew almost for sure they were catching it. I'm not gonna call anyone out but had Bimle or Adams been there that pass isn't completed nor would the first have been. The worst thing to me was the horrible put, had they just ran a normal punt they could have got it within the 15 with ease. Hard-fought win for McCort wish it would have been the other way but great game overall. Coming into the season this team was supposed to finish in the middle of the pack in the WestPac so to make it as far as they did shows a lot.

Re: Saturday Night Scores
Portage should be proud they exceeded expectations this year. I spoke with a Portage coach at a Summerfest/Fireworks get together and he expected Portage to lose 4 regular season games.
Re: Saturday Night Scores
If kephart and the other portage player (who was declared ineligible) that went to bc have been the edge portage needed to get past mccort this year?

Re: Saturday Night Scores
You know this pumping up the lhac is funny. You rip on portage for playing local schools their size and rip district 5 AA. How about district 6 AAA ? It is pathetic. The same thing as district 5 AA used to be,hardly a feather in the LHAC cap.As far as the the LHAC being dominant in single A that is even a bigger joke, you tell portage to play in a tougher conference. How about telling the privates to play up,without the recruiting schools how many single A titles does the LHAC have? I will say the AA teams in the LHAC are generally tough, primarily Forest Hills. Lets get something straight though this constant ripping on the westpac ,ICC ,heritage and other conferences gets old too.Everybody doesn't fit in the lhac.Heres an idea instead of inviting single A schools in how about inviting altoona and holidaysburg in.knightrider wrote:Its actually annoying from both ends, PA crying about recruiting and BM crying that they dont. Re: Saturday Night Scores
just because they dont ave "communitys" doesnt mean the crushers and huskies dont have fans. yes the mccort following hasnt been quite the same this year as yars past, but they still have a very strong loyal following of fans that will make the trip to mansion which is basically mccorts home away from home 9th time in 10 years their palying for a district title. also trust me i know it is not cheap for mccort to use the point, regardless of what everyone thinks
"some may say you just got lucky, i personally believe you make your own luck by being good."
Re: Saturday Night Scores
Well, the LHAC IS that much better than the other conferences and it reflects in the playoffs. If you think ripping on the truth with actual evidence gets old, the privates recruiting myth REALLY gets oldusatf oldguy wrote: Lets get something straight though this constant ripping on the westpac ,ICC ,heritage and other conferences gets old too.Everybody doesn't fit in the lhac.
