Adversity? Again?

The headlines in today's Tribune said it all about the Penn State/Indiana game yesterday: "Penn State Overcomes Adversity and Indiana". And since I did not see one play from yesterday's game, I was anxious to dive into the story and find out what PSU had to deal with against the Hoosiers. I mean, did PSU lose their starting QB in the first quarter? Did half the team come down with a touch of Legionnaires Disease? Did Indiana happen to come upon Penn State's playbook? What was that adversity of which they spoke? Well, according to Joseph White of The Associated Press, it was quite a day of misadventure for Joe Paterno.
1) Four players, three of them starters, were late for their morning team bus, so Joepa "decreed" that they would not play in the first half. Unusual, isn't it? JoePa usually "misses the boat" when it comes to discipline.
2) THEN Paterno's bus broke down on the way to the stadium, FORCING him and about a dozen players to find room on another one. I pity the guy who had to have JoePa sit on his lap. From what I heard, the real adversity was having Joepa SHOW UP at the game.
3) THEN the Nits blew a 14-point lead. UNHEARD OF!!!!!!! Oh My God!!! In the history of college football, has anyone ever lost a 14-point lead before? It's truely amazing that PSU even made a game of it after that point, let alone win the game.
4) And, by the way, his starting center was hurt. JoePa must have been suicidal at this point. Honestly, I don't understand how a team can deal with this kind of adversity and still come out on top. I guess that's why PSU didn't lay 83 on the Hoosiers like the Badgers did.

Doug Klopacz should not even be on scholarship. And to add insult to injury, he's probably the most consistent lineman we have.

After Forest Hills gets thoroughly embarassed on Friday by Tyrone, this will effectively be one of the worst overall football seasons I can remember.
