Salem Retires

Post by Username6 »

It's been rumored for a while, and now it seems to be official:

Ken Salem will no longer serve as head coach of the Bishop McCort football team.

Why did he retire?

Interesting. I wonder if the Marabito name comes up?

I've known for months. He's been rumored to do it for a while. hard to replace. TAE, I believe he just wants to keep focus on running the school and keeping it afloat.
He had a good run, hate him or love him.

135 wins, 5 district titles, 5 conference titles, and a state title appearance great career. also sent numerous players D1, and had two players spend time in the pros in the Hawkins brothers. and whoever takes over gets a good batch of players with cooper, leech, varga, rugg, barbin, wilson, and spangler as key returning staters. and a freshmen team that was undefeated this year. congrats to coach salem on a great career. he was a guy that had a lot of pride in the school and the program, he was a great guy, and even greater coach. will be extremely hard to replace. and if i had to guess i'd say jones takes over for a few years before handing the reigns to sheridan.

My guess is JD only takes it if, like Slick Willy Clinton was, every possible candidate drops out, and he's the last man standing. And Username- I take it you have an axe to grind against JD. He was a pretty good receiver @ FH back in the day, and maybe because he's "old school", most of your generation don't like that b/c you've been coddled all your life. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Johnny and wife Val are two really decent people on this earth. You could do a he ll of a lot worse than him! KS needs to concentrate more on that recr###### budget.
It ain't over until it's over.

A lot of good candidates out there, but the coach who gets the job will really be the one getting a gift. It's a perfect situation, walk into a program that has a lot of good, young talent and lost a few games (but not too many to be considered a lowly team). If this coach doesn't have McCort back in the top 3 in 2 years, it'll be a bad coaching job on his part.

Just some coaches out there:
Sheridan
J.D.
Marabito
Bassett

Will be interesting to see who they go after. Will they rule out all FH grads? Will they target Sponsky and offer him more recruiting scholarships?! lol jk

It's weird to see someone walk away while the team was just recently at the top. He is really doing their next coach a favor. Walk into a program with a winning tradition and kids who are used to winning..
