Actually I believe it was Tyrone in 2004 when they beat Seton-LaSalle in the first round and then lost to Grove City.

Ya, there have been a couple teams in the western finals. Recently the D6 AA winner has been going up to D10 and Wilmington has been loving that, beating up on the D6 winner for like 5 years in a row. But with Wilmington falling off and leaving Sharon there. In 2005 when the Rangers won their D6 AA title they played the WPIAL champion right off the bat. They could have made the western final also if there was not a flip in scheduling.

Congrats to this years team though. I was a strong doubter that the complete lack of competition in this area would hurt this team. I guess we really get to see what they are made of next week. They are going to get tested big time in their secondary next week. When two teams meet in the state quarterfinals and their records are 13-0 and 12-0 and the winning team puts up 60+ points, you know that team is for real.

Wilmington is 13-10 all-time in the PIAA playoffs with 11 district championships, with I know a couple of them coming in AAA. They have a heckuva a program up there and just had D6's number for the past couple of years.

2006: 13-6 over BM
2007: 35-34 over BM
2008: 21-19 over Central (I remember listening to this game and they had them, but then Runk got hurt)
2009: 25-24 over FH
