This is the exact reason why fans are idiots who think Joe has deserved the right to coach as long as he wants. A guy who would be 90 coaching a team is assinine. Hell a guy over 73 coaching a team is assine Yet, there are Penn State fans who act like he is God and it is apparent Joe feels he is. If he really feels he is "Coaching" right now, he is senile. If he wants to be a figure head and stand on the sidelines, so be it, but quit holding the university hostage with the country club coaching staff. Let the team make it's decisions and stand on the sidelines beside the mascot.

Once again, Joe Pa has earned his right to finish his contract this upcoming season. That's it. If they even sign him to another contract after this season, then somebody else needs to be fired for making that decision.

This seems to be the same direction another thread was going but:

1. What is the justification for firing him? (You can't fire someone because they are old)
2. 7-5 is his worst record since 2004, don't feel like researching it but I don't think there are but a handful of programs that didn't have a 7-5 or worse campaign in the past 5 seasons.
3. He is getting under paid.
4. He built a library, won 400+ games, had a winning record this year and people want him out. What will the expectations be for the following coach?

Like I said before I wish he would come out today and say that the bowl will be his last game but if not there is no reason why he should not be welcomed back again next year.

Maybe Joe means he is going to stay around and teach? He is a tenured professor. Woody Hayes stayed at Ohio State for years after he was fired and taught numerous classes. Or perhaps he is going to take on some position in the Administration dealing with fundraising? If Wanny can stay in Administration, why not Joe?
