Forest Hills just did not match up well against South Fayette, everyone knew that going into the game. FH would have had a better shot at stopping the West Catholic running game than they had at stopping the SF passing game. I just think that they would not have given up that many points.jack daniel wrote:greenngold
how do you figure they would've given west catholic a better game then sf did when sf beat fh by 37!?
I do not think it would of been a mercy rule game if FH matched up with West Catholic.

I'm not even sure why anyone is discussing the next 3 years in high school football in this area. According to Crimson and EagleAlum no one will touch Mccort or Tyrone in those years.

I agree Kirk...I think D6 AA should just save everyone the formalities and crown Tyrone and FHills co-champs in 6AA and give the 6A trophy to McCort.
Why bother even playing the 2011 and 2012 seasons? Just cancel the season and engrave those names on the D6A and D6AA trophies.

You're right, but I didn't say that.KirkHerbstreit wrote:I'm not even sure why anyone is discussing the next 3 years in high school football in this area. According to Crimson and EagleAlum no one will touch Mccort or Tyrone in those years.

I would have loved to see Forest Hills with all that blazing speed -- against West Catholic. North Star would have even been better. The sad fact is that our local AA and AAA teams will NEVER compete on a statewide basis because there is nothing even remotely close to competition in the leagues they play in. What you saw in AA championship game is a team that faced real competition all season vs one that may have played a couple competitive games. WPIAL is a shell of its former self but LHAC is five steps lower.
So I know what.... lets hate West Catholic for being better than the public. For playing a AAAA schedule. for working hard and being challenged to improve.
No comp -- no development -- no potential realization. Nothin wrong with the local kids. They are just in a very sad uncompetitive situation with the state of things in the greater Johnstown area. Consolidation is the ONLY answer.

Bellwood and Carroll still concern me. Thats about it. I could be nice and lie and say I really fear more teams in A D6, but I'd be lying.

Let's hate West Catholic for being better than public????? Here's the schools they played during the regular season. Notice any particular theme?
Roman Catholic
Monsignor Bonner
LaSalle College
Haverford Preparatory
Archbishop Ryan
Bishop McDevitt
Conwell-Egan Catholic
Cardinal Neuman-Goretti
Lansdale Catholic
Three of these opponents were AAAA. It's not so much that West Catholic played a AAAA schedule. It's how these teams are assembled. You have an ENTIRE league of teams who's players are NOT CONFINED to any certain geographical area. No wonder these teams are good. You see it here locally with private schools, imagine an ENTIRE league. So it's not so much that you play BIGGER schools, but you play "assembled" teams. South Fayette had a very good team this year. But it will be awhile before they are lucky enough to have enough homegrown kids to compete in the WPIAL as they did this year. West Catholic will probably reload. No boundaries, no restraints. AND can you imagine the basketball teams their league has. And you only need FIVE guys for that. WOW!!

Another thing that is hurting the Laurel Highlands teams is the fact that the conference refuses to allow the teams to play outside of the conference.

Bedford-Ridge?
Forest Hills played Karns City
McCort played Bradford.
BC had NC scheduled
Its not a matter that they aren't allowed, it's a matter if teams being lazy and just scheduling an LHAC team for the 10th game. Go out and play somebody!

the year bradford came down to the point to play mccort jtown played, and got crushed by, tyrone. and that same year was the year fh played karns city. but other then that teams are very lazy with that 10th game just scheduling a conference opponent, with the exception of bedford who plays their arch rival chestnut ridge every year.
