As a hockey fan, I personally like the fact that you have to dig a little for information. The Winter Classic's time was changed and it competed against the Fiesta Bowl, Rose Bowl, and people catching up on sleep from the long night before and still set the highest rating since the 70's for hockey. I personally watch Versus nearly every night they have a great hockey show and they present the sport so much better than ESPN will. I don't want hockey to go to ESPN. Hockey is helping to build Versus as well and if they could land another contract such as Arena Football they could really excel.

If you are a diehard hockey fan, then the channel dosn't matter. However for the rest of the people out there you have to make it easier for them to stumble appon a game. You have to chane thier habbits towards hockey. By putting it in ESPN you have a greater chance of doing so.

The reason I and im assuming other people don't watch, is you don't know who or when teams are playing. Besides the two big players there is no one that is very marketable. As much as the diehards love the fights, in any other sport you get ejected and fined for doing so. The game is to slow in the regular season. They need to play the game more like the olympic style hockey, and you would find more fans.

The problem with NBA and NHL are very similar....
People always harp on the NBA and how there is a lack of effort.....Well I mean I'd like to see anyone out there go balls to the wall for 82 games waking up in a different city every day. Thats exhausting, I don't care who you are. The NBA is a lot better than given credit for, everyone hears that argument and uses that as their own. Of course they don't go hard every night, How could they? NBA playoff Basketball is really really good stuff.
The NHL is the same deal, If guys played at the level they played at during playoffs, they'd be dead. You can't give playoff type efforts with a grueling schedule.
