The Parents at Richland should be Completely Ashamed
Re: The Parents at Richland should be Completely Ashamed
The best part of this latest drama is that we now get to listen to a bunch of recent high school graduates impress everyone with their knowledge and wisdom, especially in the areas of education and leadership. Not only do they excel at texting and facebook, but they also have a keen grasp of the best practice standards for high school administrators. Hmmm.... I wonder if some of them attended the last seminar at University Park, or maybe they went to the Capitol City event in Harisburg. I for one can't wait until they present their thoughts on curriculum enhancement. Maybe if this plays out long enough, these former traumatized students can use their iphones to perform some empirical and theoretical studies on how to increase standardized test scores, and maybe even maximize the district's bond rating.

great summary has Bailey contacted you to speak at the school board meeting? Wonder if this is how he treats non football players who ask him questions.say_oww wrote:The best part of this latest drama is that we now get to listen to a bunch of recent high school graduates impress everyone with their knowledge and wisdom, especially in the areas of education and leadership. Not sure I understand your question... But then again, there is a lot I don't understand these days. Like personal vendettas, and social networking, and using each as a means to an end. Whatever just happened to arguing on bleachercoaches??? After all, don't we always solve all of the problems right here???
Seriously, this and similar situations at Westmont, and CC, and Bedford should be eye-openers for any high school coach. Makes me glad I just type and listen.

5 votes....that's all it takes. No educational background, no training, no administrative experience, no coaching experience.........5 votes
"I've never lost a single game that I've coached from the stands!"

After reading the last few pages of posts, I still stand by my original statement. Canning the Head Coach because he's also the Principal is not the answer. If the current AD is truly retiring, move forward and get a leader for your athletic program who knows what he/she is doing and has a proven record of success. Let this individual repair the current situation. Hiring Craig Sponsky gets you a new AD, but it doesn't correct anything because he's an AD with limited experience at a very small school. Don't hire a coach/AD - those positions should be seperate. Don't allow parents to dictate your athletic program. Easier said than done? No its not. Hire a proven athletic adminstrator and you're problems with parents will soon fade.

VAD1, please explain to us what it is that you think a high school athletic director does to justify hiring an experienced athletic administrator for a high school. While we're at it I would like to see a job description for a high school principal. From my days in high school the only thing I could tell that a principal did was walk around the cafeteria at lunchtime with a dumb look on his face.

i do not understand how some people are saying that holding two positions at once is distracting as a coach. ex principle and coach. to me this is bull****. if you look around the laurel highlands, the majority of the coaches hold some sort of position in the school system. ex look at his fater, hes the superintedant, which has more responsibilities than principle, and people at forest hills are not trying to throw him out. they support their coach, and it shows with back to back titles. in my opinion, this guy wants to run a high school athletic program like a dang little league team where his kid is the best (even if he is not). ive been around football along time, and i have never seen a team win it all because on kid was great, its a team effort

Here's the problem if you want to argue he does not do his job as an admin....
Why make it an issue now??? Wouldn't this be an issue from day 1 he was both principal and football coach?? If you green light him to do both then back-track on it at the same time as a few parents complain then that just looks suspicious...
Welcome to Eastmont... Rivaled only by Westmont.

Was Brandon a football coach at Richland when he was a teacher? If so, then when he moved up in the ranks to principal, why wasn't this brought up as an issue????
Re: The Parents at Richland should be Completely Ashamed
it was an issue when he was approved as principle not all member or the board were at the meeting thats how he slid in and this has been a discussion since hes been there now there actually starting to do something whether it is the right or wrong thing to do
