Who plays in this crap. I pick up the paper and they are playing Puerto Rico or something for the World Championships. I just cannot believe Johnstown has that kind of talent. Let me know what I am missing here?
And since I am questioning this I am sick of hearing about he would have done this or that but blew out his knee or arm, I am sick of the injury excuse too. The Boilers had a kid from Ebensburg named Trotz and I got sick of hearing about how good he was. I do not htink he even plays in college. probably got hurt!!!

Grant it, the Boilers are always a legit team, but don't look too,too far into it for several reasons.
1. Pony Baseball is not the official baseball league of the world, Senior Little League, Babe Ruth ect...So that breaks it down further.
2. Its a pay to play tournament, They enter a satellite tournament that they have to pay for, so one would assume there are some good teams within the pony ranks that don't play out their season further for one reason or another. So that weeds out some more.
3. One would have to assume teams from down South and out West probably have more than 1-2 teams that are better than the Boilers, but just don't advance out of their regional.
4. All they have to do to get there is beat 4-5 teams from Pittsburgh, not exactly a Baseball powerhouse.
5. More often than not that 14 best 13 and 14 year olds from the area play for the Boilers, than they add 1-2 players. So they are stacked.
So through other leagues, paying to play, and weak regionals the Boilers have a little bit easier road than its made it out to be. It is one of the better 14 year old baseball teams in the State, that I do believe, but are they year in and year out one of the top 8 teams in USA for 13-14 year olds? Probably not. Not taking anything from what they do, they play well. They are loaded and are well coached.
