It's harder for me to believe that this made the news. They would bring the dogs in from Greensburg about once a year to Laurel Valley when I was in H.S. and never found anything. I rank this program up there with any scared straight program, the fear might be effective but have never really heard of too many positive hits anywhere.

The real story is not that nothing was found. The real story is some posters on here would have you believe that there are rapes, murders, drug deals, and kidnappings everyday at that school.

If something would have been found it would have been front page news.

I agree I'm surprised this even made the news, it goes on at every school why even waste the time on the news to show JHS getting searched?

Johnstown is the biggest school in our area, and the only true intercity school in our area. I'd be willing to bet my life savings that Johnstown has the biggest drug problem, but Portage, Windber, Forest Hills, Central Cambria, and even Westmont have drug issues too. I'm not sure why this is a big deal, nothing was found for obvious reasons. If you had drugs, why would you keep them in your locker at school? (As someone already stated kids keep them on them) or in their car outside, bookbag, etc. Nobody is saying there are rapes and murders going on at Johnstown, but to pretend there's not a drug problem is pure ignorance.

I'm not sure how its done elsewhere, but keeping it in your bookbag wouldn't work at McCort because when they do their searches and the school goes into "lock down" you have to throw your bags out into the hallway to get sniffed by the dogs.
