TOP 10 QB'S FOR UPCOMING SEASON
Re: TOP 10 QB'S FOR UPCOMING SEASON
In the Ranger system, no QB has to run for numbers. That's why they have great tailbacks. Simple.
It ain't over until it's over.

That may be the case, but having a quarterback with the ability to run is always a great thing to have rather its a necessity for them to run or not.

Wasn't Dave Poldiak (QB) the leading rusher for the Rangers his Junior year?

Oh to be a Forest Hills rube (all knowing fb experts) Who would have ever thunk it......To have a great tailback all one has to do is not let your qb run......Simple ? NoManfred wrote:In the Ranger system, no QB has to run for numbers. That's why they have great tailbacks. Simple.

But in many cases, QB's that can run often take off too soon during a pass play, not letting it develope. Giving up on a pass play to soon, just because a QB can run, isn't always the right thing to do. If you base your offense on a scrambler, you are in trouble.

FH NEVER had a QB as their leading rusher.

Not sure it's even possible for a quarterback to be the leading rusher in Bailey's system. They've always ran the ball, and you won't see a designed qb run besides the occasional sneak on short yardage plays. As far as Johnstown goes, let's be honest. If they had a better running back, Simon would run the bar far less. And if they had a kid who would throw besides Simon, he'd probably be playing running back. He's a great high school quarterback, but when it comes down to purely passing he definately falls behind Franco (1) and Gdula (2) in my eyes. He's a good fit in the Johnstown offense having wr's who can stretch the field vertically and no power running game.

I'm telling you Poldiak was darn near close...
He racked up 175 yards rushing at GH Miller vs Bedford.
That was the only time I saw Bailey run the option week after week...
Also- Dave was wicked on the roll out and ran it 98% of the time...
Get me the stats!!!

Sorry. Poldiak was a freshman football QB in 1996 and got his baptism under fire after Matt Danel got his ankle broken during the 8th game of the season. That would have made Poldiak a sophomore in 1997 and a junior in 1998. In 1998, FH beat Bedford in a thriller, 14-12 at Bedford Stadium. So when Poldiak was a junior, he did not play Bedford at home.
