District 5 predictions
Re: District 5 predictions
Didn't craig win 215 over suter last year in districts? Wouldn't craig be the favorite to win again at 215? Or did suter get better than craig over the offseason? That is why I thought suter wasn't ranked!

I believe Suter was better last year as well, considering he was about 30 seconds from advancing to the medal stand at Hershey.....

Re: District 5 predictions
Easter, Roberts, Gibbons and Suter are prob the four best wrestlers in D-5 in my opinion.
Rankings don't really matter. Roberts was ranked first last year and didn't win. And while Suter is undefeated I think Gibbons has 14 more wins this year and wrestled far superior competition. While you could argue the best Suter has wrestled to this point is Krupa who did not get out of districts last year. This isn't to take a shot at Suter. He is really good. Just throwing out other points of view.
As far as OW is concerned. It's hard to call. If someone gets a big upset they could win it. Of the four above I'd say Roberts is most likely on reputation. While Gibbons and Suter both have returning champs in their weights. I would weigh that into my decision if voting.

How bad did craig beat suter last year? I see your points with the outstanding wrestler. You have to consider who has the toughest bracket also!

Re: District 5 predictions
On the 171 seedings, how did Baer get seeded ahead of Albright, with Albright winning the h2h matchup? That is the reason Albright got seeded behind Frampton and Bussard, but I don't understand how Baer got that seed...
I don't recall D5 ever reseeding wrestler order after the D5 seeding meeting except for the actual wrestlers that dropped out or moved into the weight. In other words after Albright was seeded behind Baer originally that wasn't going to change. As to the original seeding - see #1 plumber's post.
D7's 3rd ranked 189 lber in multiple places, Joe Phillips of Jefferson Morgan, has 2 victories over Sollenberger, so I'd initially place the Baer/Sollen winner @ the 5th slot in SW AA. Plus while Sollen has the early season tech fall win over D6 #2, D6 #2 just beat West Branch's Speigle, who split 2 close matches with Sollen @ the Thomas tournament. Also fwiw Bedford's Brett was pinned quickly by D7 Burrell's Taylor and Brett has a victory over D6 #3.

I think they both will make it. District 6 189 is WEAK other than Kephart. Sollenberger teched the D6 runner up.[/quote]odoyelrules wrote:189: I think that its more likely that nobody qualifies for Hershey than Sollenberger and Baer both qualifying, but I'll guess that 1 does make it.

Re: District 5 predictions
If the seeding at 171 is as you were told, that is disturbing to me. The district has preseeding forms of winning %, caliber of opponent & prior performance, it seems that those were just scrapped and the interactions between the 4 wrestlers was all that was considered. imo a vote should have been held for #2 (my pick Albright) #3(Baer) #4 (Frampton) & #5 (Bussard). If a tie vote then goto the coin/hat.#1_plumber_coach wrote:I will not name names, but from what I heard the 171 class #2 through #5 seeds were too close together to "fairly" seed them that they were seeded the old fashioned way, they drew their names out of a hat..... I think Baer may have wins over either Frampton or Bussard or both, and when the seedings were done, it really didnt matter because both Baer and Albright were on the top side of the bracket with Gibbons, but now that it does matter with #4 going to #3 it really would have been nice if Preston woulda been #4 instead of #5.....but like they say, wish in one hand.......

I think Albright had an agruement to be seeded over Baer. But, if you put him at 2 then he is seeded over 2 kids that beat him head to head. He had a 1-2 record against the other 3 wrestlers in question. That is tough to argue he deserves a 2 seed. I would have no problem with him at 4 previous or 3 now that Bussard is out.
