SRV...you're about half right. The year you are thinking was 99...and he did have a pile of yards in a Bedford D6 Semi-Finals game. He was rolling out a lot in that game and Bedford had no answer. He didn't run for 175...but he ran for nearly a 100.

He definitely did not run the option that year. Don has never run the option consistently since the OG has been following Ranger Football dating back to the elder Poldiak (James) tenure. Heck, he's only had one quarterback run a sub 4.9 40 QB since 1990.

SRV...you might be thinking he led the team in rushing that year because it was the year after Justin Beyer graduated, and Forest Hills used a platoon tailback system that year more than one set tailback. No way did Dave lead that team in rushing though. He was hurt the first 3 games of that season and did not play as well.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

I'm trying to recall what I read that year in the Tribune and I found it amusing he was listed as the Rangers leading rusher...

Motchy was hurt...
Kessinger got majority of carries but Bailey always pulled him out ...
Custer got some clean up...

No consistent lead back...

That's right! Rearick did play QB the first few games that year... Maybe I'm thinking he was the leading rusher...

he threw for more yards than both of them and he was in the pocket most of the time. how isnt he s better passer than them? he only ran for 600-something yards. and his QB rating was high too so its not like he's not efficient when passing.

IMO Steve Franco is a bit overrated. I'm not sure about Simon because i've never seen him play but franco is definately not as good as frye.

Hengst boy from Chestnut Ridge needs to be considered as a top 10 QB for upcoming season ~ Hengst has started since his sophmore year and has over 3,700 yards in total offense in 2 years and runs the option very well with his speed & needs to polish his passing game on the offseason. He made great strides last offseason from his sophmore year to junior year and a very good team player. Good luck Brad in 2011!

Hengst should have another excellent year, he is a very good athlete.

Another Bedford County guy that should have a good year is NBC's Logan Fluke. With Preston Albright graduating Fluke should have more opportunites to put it in the air in 2011.

I know these guys arent on the same level as some of the other people mentioned in this topic, but good QB nonetheless.

In my opinion a kid that is very under the radar for qb discussion is Shaffer for richland, he's a big kid and has pretty good arm, he is going to be a sophmore next year expect break out performance next year from him especially his connections to flick really good chemistry there

I doubt there will be any breakout for a richland QB next year in terms of a ton of yards, but whoever ends up getting the nod could have a lot to work with with a group of solid RBs and an (almost) all returning O line. Handoff handoff play action or roll out will be easy money when teams are keying on run game. Hopefully someone improves and gets to work into it and not thrown into the fire like last year. Will be interesting.
