Re: Walker Brothers
Its one thing but the kids were shopped around at GCC and Bishop McCort before settling in at Shade.
Re: Walker Brothers
Maybe that is rumors that you are hearing! I don't know if the parents both lived together in the n.s. district at one time and both went their own ways or not??? I heard the mom is within the shade district now, but not 100% sure. North Star hoops team wins district5aa or west pac almost every year? Why such hate on coach loya when he has more wins and titles than fyock and shade??? This is one of the only years that shade beat north star! Three years ago when they had the 1000 point scorers shade beat them also! North Star wins in every program, so why knock a coach that is always a winner too in hoops! I know they won alot of d-5aa titles in the past 6 years or so and a west pac title also and have 1000 point scorers their that are good ball players! Coaches sometimes do lose games, but the players have to execute the game plan to win. You can't always blame coaches for that, and n.s. played that good team well in the playoffs! Do you hate the football coach for losing to clairton 60-0?? At least the hoops team stuck with whichever that good hoops team was in the playoffs! Loya has hoops camps too doesn't he??? He must know something about it because they always win and produce good ballplayers from their! Is it they don't like him, or they feel he can't coach, because I don't buy the later????

Re: Walker Brothers
I just tell you what I know, Loya is not well liked in the North Star area of the world. Never argued about his success or the success of the program,I just know people do not like the man.
Re: Walker Brothers
Yah, I don't know too much out that way, but see they have a good program and heard some things about the walkers coming to shade, but I don't know either, it all could be rumors what I heard because it never came from their mouth. Anyways, I know they are at shade because I see their names in the paper for baseball!

Re: Walker Brothers
North Star is a bigger school in a very small conference. The enrollment is down in this last cycle but they are still big school compared to the opponents. Coach Loya does take a beating but the school seems to stand by him. Parents can be tough and want coaches to coach the way they want them to coach!!!
Re: Walker Brothers
The reason the School board and Administration stand behind him is because of his winning record. That has been state many times. His treatment towards the kids however is unheard of. He mentally and physically abuses kids as a motivator. Those days are far gone.He has wrote on other schools locker rooms how corrupt certain school districts are or how about his kicking the chair at A shootout threatning the refs? His belittlement to the kids and his staff is heartless. Many could tell much more than me but at NS it doesn't matter. However there will come a day when he goes too far and it costs the district way more that the state budget cuts. North Star boys and girls basketball programs are in a world of hurt. Watch and see this coming fall. NS Boys will be just over 500 and the girls will be lucky to win 6 games.
Re: Walker Brothers
Every school has up and down years, but north star has been up for awhile! The walker boys will hurt the basketball program, and it now will keep shade up their because it would have been a down year at shade after losing 4 starters, 2 that were 1st team all county, but walker made the all county team and his brother nash has alot of talent and experience to add with fyock and medva to keep shade up the top! Shade just needs 1 more big guy and they will be fine!
Re: Walker Brothers
Talk about hand-picking a team! If you know you are lacking talent at certain spots since the graduation of the chosen ones, just go out and recruit more for "academic reasons" (excuse me, while I choke on those words). While not questioning the coach's ability to field successful teams, one has to consider the methods. And no one truly knows a coaches methods-good, bad, or other, until they've been in the gym with him. Wonder how the other players on the team feel now that they'll have to take a back seat to the newly acquired chosen ones? After all, they've been working for years to get one of those few coveted playing positions only to be told/shown in no uncertain terms that they aren't good enough. That's some positive reinforcement!!

I am not 100% sure but didn't Wade Fyock have some kind of situation when he was in high school where he was from Shade but played at Somerset?
I think, I should say I know, District 5 is very laxed on transfers.

Re: Walker Brothers
Ok people this needs to stop. So what if the Walker Brothers are coming to Shade. They made the choice. Who are we to tell them what they can and can't do? It's getting rather old listening to this nonsense. Let the kids play basketball. As for NS Basketball, Coach Loya will find a way to win. But as for overall hoops. Shade is the clear cut winner in the south. (Barring Injuries) as for the North it's hard to tell. Portage is gonna be decent. As will Blacklick Valley and CV. Township could also pose of a threat to any team.
