Pirates Draft
Pirates Draft
MLB draft is this evening, and the Buccos have the number one pick. Any opinions out there on who the Pirates should pick?
I prefer Rendon or Cole. They appear to be the two most 'polished' players available. Starling may have the most upside, but also is the most risky. Don't believe the PBC has the luxury of picking a player with that much risk.

Re: Pirates Draft
I like Coles' raw talent, but I really like Hultzen....Rendon isn't on my radar, don't draft whats already injured...too risky.

Re: Pirates Draft
well cole wasn't a bad choice....Bell is a steal in the second round but if he signs. He has said numerous times he will honor his commit to the longhorns that's why he dropped to the 2nd round, they will have to break the bank to sign the 1st 2 picks this year, the 1st baseman from iu in the 3rd round is a reach.

Re: Pirates Draft
They just drafted the kid from Indiana, might be another Alex Presley type batter.

Re: Pirates Draft
doubt it...3 years at or below altoona after his 30th b-day
Numbers dropped bigtime with the bat switch this year, doesnt translate to wood well, add that to the fact he cant run or throw well, definately a reach for the 3rd round.

Re: Pirates Draft
If they sign second round pick Josh Bell, who was one of the top 15 prospects in the draft and only fell to second round due to his commitment to play ball for the Longhorns, they end up with the best first two rounds of any teams in the league.
