He has to realize one thing. He can throw 92 coming out of a town/area that rarely produces Draft Picks, D1 College players, ect... There is 100 + kids with his same ability in just about every state down South. He does not have "special" stuff or anything, because like some said...He would have been a top 10 round pick had he been. He gets this thought that he has signability issues and that has to be the sure fire reason why he is falling to the 27th and now 41st round. Well maybe it has something to do with his talent, where he comes from, and his overall impressions he has given to teams. He comes across as arrogant, and foolish to me if he is proclaiming he is a top ten round pick, and he is being drafted in the 41st round. I wonder if he understands that. If a team wanted him, they would draft him. If they viewed him as a player worthy of a signing bonus that large he would be taken that high. Obviously he wasn't and he sounds like an idiot saying he is. He's a great baseball player, he can throw hard, and he works really hard at it. I commend him for it, and I', not proclaiming I was a good baseball player.

But let's look at the reality of it all.....Why didn't Richland advance with him on the team? surely a team possessing such a talented player should win D6 2-3 straight years, and him dominating the local competition. Well they didn't.

People might have actually heard about him before his senior season, he would have been making a splash for some time.....Roberts and Harrington were both known for a few years before their senior seasons and made impacts in Junior League and HS ball. I didn't get that impression from Urban until last season.

IF there was a kid that could be drafted in the Top 10 rounds from Johnstown, it would not be that outrageous for a top program to come in and scoop him up. SEC and ACC have come into D6 2 of the past 3 seasons and have come out with two players. If a kid is that good, they will not shy away from coming up here and taking a chance. Harrington went to UVA, and Goodling is going to Clemson. But the best Urban could do was Penn State? The Big Ten is very weak in Baseball, and Penn State is a lower-kid tier team within that league. And that was his best offer apparently.

So with all that said, He was not a well known player even in the small bubble of Johnstown, Richland HS had limited success, and he was offered by a Mid Major Baseball program more-less. He was drafted in the 41st round. That is his reality. I feel bad for the kid because it probably isn't his fault, but that of the people advising him. And I don't mean to seem like I am cutting him down. But from what I can gather, it is what it is. There is no shame in being drafted in the 41st round, Hell when was the last person from Johnstown to be drafted? Case and point, the kid is a really good pitcher, and a good player overall. He has received some bad advice, and makes him seem like an arrogant player. Johnstown should be very proud to have 3 local players having such great success.

The 2012 MLB draft has begun. Whatever happened to Austin Urban? The Chicago Cubs website lists him as being unsigned from the 2011 draft. The Des Moines Community College website reported that he did sign and would have reported to Arizona for the instructional league. Does anyone know?

If that's the case then it would appear that his baseball career is all but over.
