*Sigh*....okay. I expected this to happen at some point. I made a new account since I don't play at heights anymore and I'm going to lay to straight for you. Your probably a freshman or soph who never played for Justin before. I know you arent old enough to be out of HS because you put a 69 in your name. That said you shouldn't be on here unless you have genuine knowledge of what your talking about. Myers was taking the team leaps and bounds ahead of where the program was just a few years ago. One problem with Myers was his offense was to good, and by good i mean too advanced and complicated for a HS or at least ours. I found it pretty easy, but I was one of the brightest kids on the team and probably the most football smart besides Vescovi. Truth be told though there were a lot of kids, not naming names who were IMO dumb as rocks. The offense could have been dynamic but other than a few 4-5 kids everyone was in the wrong pass pro, couldn't grasp a simple zone blocking scheme, or ran wrong routes.

The other part is simply the community in the area. Everyone in the school district pretends to be interested in it but the only people who could honestly give a rats **** besides the players and coaches are the students and hell, even most of them leave after the first half even if it was close. I know of no other district in the area thats like this but fittingly as soon as they find the solution they say its the problem and dig themselves deeper.

Luckily the new coaching staff is the best they could have gotten. Lewis is a great players coach, Caldwell and McClaurin give them the old school style and offense and defense they need. However the only strong point on the team is the runningbacks and they're going to have to run for 200+ yards a game to do it. Problem is Heights isn't known for good lines and altough I thought we weren't bad as far as size and footwork goes if you thought last year was bad then expect this to be unbearable. The line gets smaller and not any smarter with Anna as the only returning starter and Senior Jake Beach is gonna have his hands full trying to spearhead that group.

Now by no means is this hate. I love my school to death. It's just this isn't a step forward its a massive tumble backwards. Still, I'm going to be there supporting the boys in red and blue every week....unless they happen to face a Justin Myers coached squad down the road

Good luck and stay off bleachercoaches during the season....its not a good thing to get into.

It's always a treat to be at a hts. halftime band presentation. A year or so ago, didn't Hts. have a HUGE 9th gr.? Are these same kids going to be a help this season?
It ain't over until it's over.

Yes these kids are now juniors and are pretty much the team this year. I dont mean this as to say theyre that much better than the other grades its just that theres so many of them and only a handful of seniors this year

WomboCombo814,
Although I disagree with nearly all of it, that's a very well written post. As Cambria Heights begins to experience success again on the football field over the next few years under Coach Lewis, Coach Caldwell, Coach McLaurin and Coach Miller, I think you might gain a new perspective on some of your observations and of your time as a student-athlete.
There is no doubt that Coach Meyers is an excellent offensive mind and that the individual achievements of Cambria Heights athletes who played in his offense will never be matched at the school. But if THAT system couldn't produce wins with THAT group of athletes, when would it ever produce wins? At Cambria Heights, the answer is "never." The only formula that ever has worked or will work at a small, rural, economically disadvantaged district is: defense, run the ball, no turnovers.

All i was trying to imply was that he was let go early. With the close games they played last year I just think he deserved one more year to prove his worth before you decide to start from stratch again. The school is desperate for wins so why not see if they can get them sooner than rather later?

In all seriousness, who cares about jerseys and helmets. Those posts belong in another thread (Irrelevant football topics).

As some people stated, Bailey will drop the ball this season with his one-way stud, Rizzo. Poor play-calling will include a 70-30 pass/run breakdown when Rizzo should be carrying the ball as much as Ike Redman in August.

As for the Heights, maybe an old school coaching staff can implement some tackling drills. Just one of the many problems which plague the laughing stock of the LHAC. As has been proved at all levels of football, a defense and a run game wins games, as compared to an explosive offense which brings about individual accolades. Sadly, the latter of the two has been mistaken for positive strides for the Heights.

Johnstown will prevail as LHAC champions, depending on the amount of players who can avoid probation. McCort will fall just short at 8-2, while FH will see O-Line woes and a mediocre 7-3 season. CC will see a drop off, and possibly a short tenure for the new head coach after implementing a new system that goes against their tradition.
