Congrats to CV on comeback win!
Congrats to Conemaugh Valley and new coach Winston Redman, who got his first win today in a wild 14-13 comeback over Shade.
After Shade qb Cody Kiser's 1-yard sneak put the Panthers up 13-6 with 2:14 to play, the all-important PAT try was wide.
CV then drove 72 yards in 11 plays. Ron Kelley completed 3 passes for 33 yards, and a Shade personal foul plus an 11-yard run by Dalton Uncapher moved the ball to the Panther 11. Uncapher then ran it in with 18.7 seconds remaining to pull CV within one. Uncapher then lined up to apparently kick the PAT but then threw to Hunter Furman, who made a diving catch for what proved to be the winning 2-point conversion. Furman then got his third pick of the day on Shade's first play after the kickoff to seal the win.
One game does not a season make, and Valley does have a long way to go in rebuilding, but this game showed the progress being made. CV held Shade to 49 second half yards and outgained the Panthers 281-195 overall. CV also passed for 133 yards. For a team that was losing 50-0 on a regular basis for the last two years this is definite progress. Kudos to the new staff, and good luck to the kids who have stuck it out through all the adversity.

Nice post. And I'll second that.

Re: Congrats to CV on comeback win!
Congrats to the c.v bluejays and new coach. It was a good game and they didn't quit! They played hard and it was a tough one for shade to swallow after leading the whole game and losing on a late td under 30 seconds left and a trick 2 point conversion pass play to win it. gutsy call by the coach, but it paid off. gousse lost last week by not making the 2pointer last week vs meyersdale. Portage did have the momentum and I liked that call also! Great game turned in by #7 furman with alot of nice runs and catches and he had 3 ints! Shade had it inside the 2 and ran the same player 4 times and didn't score right before the half and that changed the momentum in the game. Should have tried one of the two guys that got the ball down their on at least two of the tries. Bad playcalling. Great adjustments by c.v at the half to stop and call out every shade play in the 2nd half and to shoot the olbs and contain the sweeps and counters by shade. Shade is too predictable and must run out of different offensive formations to give different looks like the I-formation or pro set with a simple blasts and scissors and trailers with some playaction passes because every pass play they have comes off a roll-out instead of straight drop backs and play action to give the qb some time to get it off. Congrats to c.v on a nice game.
