Welcome, Losers, to the New "Big Country" Conference
Once again the Big East gets raided because they are not proactive in this changing climate known as the conference twister.
Pitt Chancellor has been on the Big East offices case for over a year begging them to get to 12 teams so they would be more stable for the next round of conference change.
Yet, the Big East and Big 12 sit still and watch themselves dwindle.
If reports today are correct, The Longhorn Network problem has been solved and a year after Larry Scott thought he had the first superconference, he could. By late Monday or sometime Tuesday look for TT, Texas, Okie and Okie State to jump. Then A&M will make it official and WVU, who according to sources, officially applied to the SEC today (and may actually be the reason Syracuse and Pitt moved so quickly...an impending WVU to SEC move) will give them 14 and from their it's anybody's guess.
If the Big East and Big 12 offices want to save any face, they will merge NOW! Don't wait until mid-week, put your egos in your pocket and merge. The New "Big Country" Conference could provide an orphanage for L-ville, Cinci, Rutgers, U.Conn, S.Fla, TCU, Kansas, Kansas St., Iowa St., Baylor and possibly Missouri, although they could end up as an SEC or Big Ten target, as you could Rutgers (ACC or Big 10). Throw in the likes of E.Carolina, S.Miss, SMU and Houston....maybe even BYU , Temple and Air Force and you can get to 12-16 teams and save a little bit of face and maybe even a BCS bid. And I know, I know, I've listed about 18 schools but we all know a few of these are going to get targeted by somebody, somewhere else before the dust completely settles from the current storm.
