Next Weekend Schedule
Re: Next Weekend Schedule
COLIN Gdula has been at St. Francis for 2 years. He'd be ineligible for any hs allstar group. I presume you meant Justin the current Qb, which then begs the question, is he really better than the North Star Qb, Strasiser?
It ain't over until it's over.

Yes Manfred I meant Justin. And I'd give him the nod, but I've seen him play on more than one occasion and haven't seen Straisser play.

Seriously another year and someone is talking about Clariton playing an allstar team. I have seen them twice this year. They are flat out better than anything in the Trib Democrat coverage area. But seriously if you are already talking about them playing an allstar team then you know that already.
Enjoy your district 5 title, cause your season's about to be over.

Wait, so you think that Clairton would beat a D5/6 combined team??youngbuck wrote:Seriously another year and someone is talking about Clariton playing an allstar team. Obviously Clairton is good but they aren't some immortal god. Everyone thought for instance that Steelton (a tough team comparable to today's Clairton) would kill McCort in '08 and MC played them tough. Imagine if you pugged in some players from the D5/6 A area for mccorts weaknesses and the combined team would win hands down. How could you not think that?

Good point Athens. In 2008 McCort vs Steelton was 6-3 with 10 minutes to go, Steelton had a 4th down on which they scored a TD that caused that game to get a little out of hand. If they are stopped on that 4th down. The final score probably ends up a lot closer then 27-9.

D5 does not have the SPEED that Clairton has. That is why they are so dominating. They get off the ball so fast and O-lines around here are slow. Why do you think that everytime we play the D7 champ the QB runs for his life on every passing attempt and the running back is stuff before he even gets to the line of scrimmage?

Re: Next Weekend Schedule
Can I throw a flag on this post? Both Riverside, and McCort was able to hang w/ Clairton for 48 minutes. Hell Riverside dominated the first Quarter and a half. If it wasn't for a breakdown on defense and a fumble McCort could've beaten the Bears. This past week Springale and their misdirection offense put 20 points up. Fact is those three schools don't have the team speed that Farrell and Rochester have. What they have was amazing Lines on both sides of the ball. The last team that beat Clairton was Laurel and they wasn't noted for having team speed as well. Speed is one thing, but I think the D5 schools could either be in "awe" or doesn't have the strength up front that the Riversides, McCorts, and Springdale's have. Speed is a great advantage but it isn't everything.bbsocceralumni wrote:D5 does not have the SPEED that Clairton has. That is why they are so dominating. I'm just giving credit where it is due. That's all. They played one hell of a ball game.sportsfan1000 wrote:If I could steal a phrase from the Monday Night Countdown crew...."C'mon, man!"animus2001 wrote:If it wasn't for a breakdown on defense and a fumble McCort could've beaten the Bears.

Thank you, most people who did not see that game, and even some that did, laugh at me when I tell them if not for turnovers we easily could have been state champs. And don't forget the 3 straight false starts on first and goal late in the first half that led to a missed field goal, everything about that sequence hurt too.animus2001 wrote:I'm just giving credit where it is due.
