I see the Altoona school board finally opened up the Head Football position. Is there where Sponsky is headed now that it's officially been opened up?

Opened position is a nice way to say you are fired. I had lunch with Steve Sheetz and he was talking about Joe Pa, Sponsky, and Swaim.

:ymsick: yeah, that makes no sense from an administrative standpoint. they are doing exactly what they did 3 years ago when they hired palfey.....in june! They need to get a backbone and just fire the guy..nice guy or not. and they told him to re-apply for his own job!

It's not a hot seat...well, it's a hot seat when your team is HOT, but there have been rumblings around town here that Coach Franco will be leaving Tyrone at seasons end with Stevie graduating this year. Not sure how true it is, but it makes a lot of sense (Close to retirement from teaching, might take a college coaching job somewhere?)

why leave now when retirement is based on highest 3 years of salary? Best to coach to the end to have highest teaching salary, highest coaching salary and boosting retirement pay
