Any moves in classification?
Re: Any moves in classification?
well this whole problem would be solved if these 'pretend' football teams in the johnstown area would combine. if people would stop bringing up stupid things like too long of transits for students we could actually have competitive football/ competitiveness in general in the area. Look at the altoona school district…those kids come from a huge urban area…c'mon johnstown area---wake up! Seriously….ferndale? where is that district exactly…it has no conjoined area whatsoever. I know this has been brought up before but it's truely pitiful. and conemaugh valley also..? stop living in the past! what is the mindset with the people in charge of this? has there ever been any talk of combining? If greater johnstown SD is going to be moving down in the future what will ferndale and CV do? Just do it now

Then they could be like a Central Mountain, with beautiful brand new facilities and the ability to compete in maybe "AAAA", well maybe not like Central Mt. in that aspect (mediocre AAAA team this year, but an OK AA team with a "AA" roster) And I don't know about you but I believe Lewistown and Indian Valley's merger was the best thing those school districts could have done.

Johnstown's male enrollment is approx 392 this time. The AA ceiling is 298. It looks like they won't even be close to dropping for at least ten years.
When I look at how Hollidaysburg and Indiana did the classy thing, THEY FOUND A WAY TO GET A TRIPLE A SCHEDULE, I wonder why Johnstown can't do the same instead of unloading on A and AA teams.

Re: Any moves in classification?
that's because the LHAC binds you like a slave. You are lucky to even get one open spot (which is at the end of the season mind you) based on when your playoffs start. Hollidaysburg, for example, has never been in such a conference to my recollection. It's just the Johnstown Mentality at it's finest…come down to where you can be competitive rather quickly in the LHAC instead of holding your program to a higher standard and finding the AAA competiton. What was the reason for Jtown leaving the WPIAL? I've always heard it was due to the fact they were losing interest in the program because they sucked and had to drive to the Greensburg/Pittsburgh area to play their games…once again Johnstown Mentality. How come State College and Altoona never succombed to this?richaboli wrote:Johnstown's male enrollment is approx 392 this time. The AA ceiling is 298. When Johnstown joined the LHAC there were 2 AAA teams. Couple that with the private schools that I always hear on hERE that they should play AAAA because they have no boundries and I say what's the problem?richaboli wrote:Johnstown's male enrollment is approx 392 this time. The last time I checked the LHAC schools voted UNANIMOUSLY to accept JHS into the LHAC. Why? Was it so people like you can complain. I highly doubt Don Bailey, Brandon Bailey, or Salem/Sheridan think JHS in this conference is a bad idea. They probably appreciate playing a quality bigger school that helps them come playoff time.
Johnstown can't win. If they beat the teams in the LHAC people like you complain they are too big. If they lose people like you will laugh they should never lose to a smaller school. AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE LIKE YOU LOVE THEM IN THIS CONFERENCE. YOU ALWAYS HAVE A BUILT IN EXCUSE.
Re: Any moves in classification?
just wondering. Did Johnstown apply for admission into the LHAC, or did the LHAC come looking for Johnstown.
Re: Any moves in classification?
You are right, Johnstown can't play an A and AA schedule and get respect. It's a cheap accomplishment. There's not many places, if any at all, where a team can play an exclusive smaller classification schedule and qualify for a higher classification playoff. And rightfully they shouldn't expect to receive any respect because they chose the low road. If they take the correct road and beat triple A teams, they will get the respect they deserve.sportsfan1000 wrote: If they beat the teams in the LHAC people like you complain they are too big. Insert Ligonieer Valley where JTown is and I agree completely again. Also get rid of the AA, and replace AAA with AA. OK now I am good.

I hate to break it to you but I highly doubt anyone at Johnstown cares if they have your respect.

They didn't beat my school, but I completely agree that they don't care if they have everyone's respect.
