District 5 tournament
so there has been some talk of how district 5 is pretty tough this year. after looking at it, i'll have to at least agree that they are pretty deep. these stats are from last year's district tournament only.
*there are 10 returning d5 champs
*there are 10 returning d5 runners-up
*there are 12 returning 3rd place finishers
*the following wrestlers, who in my opinion are good enough to make it to regionals, didn't finish top 3 last year and are returning this year....Brady Logsdon, Kody Ofsanko, Damien Jano, Colin Day, Eric Darr, Toby Brett, Richard Moskey, Zack Dudek, Chris Eichelberger, Tanner Williams, Phil Aikey, Cody Yingling, Josiah Koontz, Isaiah Gibbons, Jake Bennett, and Patrick Blough... none of this kids made it to regionals last year, but any of them could this year....
that's 48 kids to fill 42 spots and that's not counting anyone i didnt mention that could make a run or any freshman or sophmores(in their first year varsity) now i know there are going to be some weights where a regional quality kid wont make it through and some weights where a non-regional quality kid will, but all in all i feel d5 should represent a lot better at regionals this year than last.....

Dang man, great post! Do you write for a newspaper? You should do a top 3 prediction for each weight class.

haha no, i don't write for a paper, that'd be nice though. i'm just a fan who sits in the bleachers. I'm sure after this weekend and next weekend's thomas tourny, there will be plenty of posts on here making predictions(sure to go wrong) for the d5 tourny. i'm sure some wrestlers are still not sure as to which weight class they will be at for districts. which brings me to my next point. why do they do the seedings meeting for districts so early? after the seeding meeting there are always kids changing weights and such....why not do the seeding friday morning? all coaches could head up to windber and get the brackets put together in plenty of time for the wrestling to still start at 2. just one guy's opinion....

Groundhog killer you are illiterate to the sport of wrestling and are insulting many people. D-5 is coming back and has good competition. If you going to preach about how bad they suck keep it to yourself thanks killer.
Re: District 5 tournament
There were alot of great matches at richland and I feel d-5 is as strong as it has been in awhile! I think there will be alot of d-5 wrestlers placing and doing well at states this year! Berlin and conemaugh township have nice teams this year in the d-5 and impressed me. Congrats to those schools on getting the tradition back to those schools. You always have the bedfords, somerset, and ridge up top, but this year berlin and c.t can knock off some top schools which they did at richland! If berlin stays healthy they can knock off some teams. They have some nice wrestlers this year. Next year they get another fochtman and swank who are tough in the junior high to add to that team! Township had two nice freshman this year also in cahill and berchick who are really doing well and impressed me for freshman along with the fochtman boy from berlin. North star started off slow, but seem to be coming on also. I think d-5 is strong and has great wrestlers this year. Congrats to all and good luck at bedford this weekend and districts! Good job boys, don't let anyone knock you!

And let's not forget that the 2 D5 members of the LHAC will be battling head to head for the conference championship.
