DUE CREDIT

Post by Ranger Wrestling »

Tonight I attended the Forest Hills/Central Cambria Varsity Wrestling match. The Rangers won the match by a score of 40-34. One of the featured bouts pitted Cody Law against Anthony Risaliti at 160 pounds. Law is ranked #1 in the State and Risaliti is currently ranked at #2. This was the second time that these two locked horns this season. Law won the first match in the Finals of the Penn Cambria Tournament, earlier this year, 10-7. Law won again tonight by the score of 7-4 in a match that featured alot of great action. Both wrestlers stayed on the attack for the entire 6 minutes and should be proud of the effort that they put forth. Aside of the competitive nature of the team and individual matchups, something stood out to me. The official for the match (Mr. Eichelberger) refereed an outstanding match. He repeatedly put himself into position to make the correct calls. During the 285 pound match, Evan Sikora (Central Cambria) drove his opponent, Matt Marra (Forest Hills), off the mat. Mr. Eichelberger rushed over to put his body in front of both wrestlers just in time to catch Marra's head before it bounced off the gymnasium floor or bleachers. Irrelevant to the fact, Sikora won the bout by fall in the 3rd period. Without Eichelberger's quick reactions and concern for the safety of both wrestlers, an injury would have occurred. Too often, we hear about this man or that woman who cost a team a victory, because of a bad call. I thought I would take a minute to congratulate Mr. Eichelberger on an outstanding job officiating the match tonight. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.

IMO....eichelberger is one of the best in the business. He is always fair and never has a team he treats better than another. He does always risk his safety for the Kids. He is a great Guy as well. Talked to him many of times. Such a level headed Guy with a great outlook on everything.

Great post Ranger Wrestling! Couldn't agree more about both individuals.

First with Law. A lot can be said about how this kid has worked hard to not only get healthy but to improve enough to be ranked high in the state and beat kids like Risiliti. I'm guessing that's his brother at 106?

And Eichelberger, without a doubt one of the best around. He is never lazy when he's out there no matter who is wrestling. That can't be said for all officials. Some guys are always out of position mainly due to being too lazy to get down on the mat and move around a little bit. Not many refs work as hard as Eichelberger. Always fair, always consistent, one of the best...

Eichelberger is the man...Im pretty sure something happened to him when he was in high school and fell into the scores table and hit his head and he wasnt allowed to wrestle anymore...He is by far the best around!
