District 5 A boys playoffs
Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
Shade has been playing good ball down the stretch also brigade with a big win over c.v. by ten or more points and c.v. beat c.t. Shade is finally healthy and getting some good bench play by kiser, cigich, and spangler finally. Not great scorers, but they hustle and give other teams fits with there defense. Shade will have to put medva on kyle cooney and stop his three and put walker on glotfelty to stop his underneath game. Also berlin has snyder, who can nail the three as good as cooney along with lynch at times with the 3 ball. I would play a tight man and force them out of there 3 game and box out giving them only one shot like walker did to the vikings. Glotfelty is good inside. Shade already beat them twice with a hurt team. Now they are totally healthy and are experienced on the big u.p.j. court with there 5 starters where as berlin has no experience on that court. It is a whole different atmosphere and court at upj and berlin as a first time team will have a big eye opener down there as shade has experience with all there players being there before. Shade will have to be ready and forget about the two wins earlier because it is playoffs now and every team is 0-0. They have to play there game and forget about the wins earlier because they mean nothing now just like them and the vikings this year. And brigade, hyndman being a tough team??? REALLY! I will give s.f., but shanksville only lost to them by 4 earlier in the season and they lost harper there best player. I wasn't drinking the s.f. koolaide. Hendershot is a great coach, but that team wasn't unbeatable this year and the conference is weaker down there this year as you can see by west pac domination.

Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
please if your gonna correct me with a cap REALLY, please get it right, i said i am taking berlin because THEY are playing great ball and beat a hyndman team that everyone on here picked to win and a sf team that beat ridge, nbc, tussey, shanksville, and a tough bellwood antis team. you can put shade on a pedastal all you want but a 19-2 record in the regular season with those wins is not KOOL-AID it was going out night after night winning games against good teams. and as for being at upj, i have seen walker 6 times and he always has to come out for his asthma, upj is much bigger and playing man on that court will have him out quit a bit, and they may not be dominant in the A but there are still 3 of them left in AA. shade is in the same group as c.v. most of their wins were because of big men under the basket getting rebounds and getting quick putbacks which is why beating c.v. was no shock to me, berlin beating sf was.sppawfan wrote:Shade has been playing good ball down the stretch also brigade with a big win over c.v. by ten or more points and c.v. beat c.t. Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
First off, hyndman played paw-paw maryland and j-town christian and teams like that so I knew they weren't a good team. They struggled to beat salisbury and shade pounded them by 50 both times. Shade beat ridge and shanksville also and berlin twice without a healthy fyock and pounded berlin at shade by more than 10 points. Shade has been hot also lately, so it just isn't berlin! C.v you make like they stink, but they beat your c.t. indians this year! And c.t. is a good team around here. But telling me hyndman is a good team makes me laugh! And to tell me shade only has guys under the hoops shows you don't know there team because fyock, nash walker, and medva all ave. 10 points or more and are the guards. Wade walker is under the hoop and ave. about 14 a game. That is the underneath game. Shade is about guards and athletes. And the kid with asthma was ken gibbons who was out a lot and he graduated. But we will see. Berlin lost to shanksville and us both times and to rockwood also who we pounded by 25 points or more each game. So to say shade isn't hot right now is ridiculous because they are finally healthy also. But you pick who you want because you will see friday when shade beats them again. And I don't put shade on a pedastool. I call them as I see them and I say shade by 8. I think c.t. is the best around here, not shade. I just know it would be a major upset if berlin wins. I could care less who wins, but it seems you have a problem with shade to neglect the team because they are tough to beat with the athletes they have.
Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
Also berlin lost to salisbury by 5, c.t. by 18, c.v by 5, rockwood by 7, shade twice by 2 and 15, twice to shanksville by 2 and 18. They were 13-8 on the season and beat after losing to shade and shanksville at the end of the season, windber, turkeyfoot, hyndman and southern fulton if you call that being hot with those 4 wins! Berlin can't win away from home and it is proven over the years and this year. Look at previous seasons. They will be overwhelmed by the big court at upj where shade has the walkers and medva and fyock who played there before. Walkers with north star! And kiser, cigich, and spangler gave shade some good bench minutes with two key guards on the bench with 4 fouls. Anything can happen in basketball if a team is off, but shade has good enough athletes to overcome this and the experience. Not taking anything away from berlin. It was a great win and congrats. I just know it is a whole different atmosphere at upj and they don't play well on the road. I know they won two playoff games on the road in a row, but overall they aren't a road team and upj is a different type of road game!

Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
wow.. you just read what the hell you want and process it the way you want... for the second time i will say and hope to hell you understand what i say.................. i never said hyndman was great i said berlin beat a hyndman team that everyone on here picked to win....and for someone who bleeds shade blue and gold why dont you take one min of your time and ask wade if he has asthma.. because its funny as hell i sat directly behind him and watched him hit his inhaler 7 times or more that game. the refs actually stopped the game when ct had the ball for him to sub out. and as for the cv game.... ct won 2 out of 3 against them and its hard to win when you have 10 fouls called on you with 3 min left in the first and c.v. has none.. you want to use any game that shade wins as a measure to there greatness but put down all the other teams that i use wins as a measure.. please show me where i said cv stinks or that shade isnt on a streak.. your starting to act like bbsoccer now...hmmm berlin cant win on the road.... think they went on the road and beat sf.. really no pedastal? every game you state they should beat shanksville then come up with an excuse of playing the wrong defense but when they finally win its a great coaching job by fyock. i have never said anything disrespecting shade and picked them to win south.. but every time they lose you have some excuse, why dont you go to the wjac highlights this year and watch how many times they show walker rebounding a shot for the quick putback. god forbid someone pick a team other then shade to win...sppawfan wrote:First off, hyndman played paw-paw maryland and j-town christian and teams like that so I knew they weren't a good team. Great job Berlin boys!!!! Now to the big dance! As for playing on the court at UPJ, are the baskets higher? Is the court that much bigger? Are the hoops smaller? I am sure Posser will have the boys prepared to play. We don't drink the kool-aid over here but maybe just maybe the third time is the charm! I've seen it happen. Over confidence can be the down fall! GO EERS!
Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
I don't bleed blue and gold and the 1st two games fyock let duppstadt hit 5 or more 3s in those 1st 2 games. This game duppy had 3 points and 1 3 and he is there leading scorer along with slade and the two only had 17 total points and that is a great gameplan by a coach to do that to two quality players and have the kids carry it out. Like I said, I don't care who wins, but I don't feel shade ever gets respect from people and in hoops they are there every year. Berlin can beat shade, but doubt it. Tussey and nbc could beat c.t., but doubt it. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day, but to say berlin is hot because they beat 1 good team after shade and shanksville clobbered them by 15 and 18 points is absurd. Maybe s.f. couldn't hit or was in foul trouble like shade was last night and c.t. was the game against c.v. You never know and that is why they play the game. I respect you picking berlin and going for the upset. It is a free country and everyone has there opinions. And I never had excuses for shade in the first two shanksville games. The vikings are a good team and have good players. I just said shade is finally healthy with fyock back from a bad hammy injury and wade walker back from a sickness that they had in the first two games that I believe when you take 20 points and your best ball handler away and walker who is ave. 14 points and 8 rebounds a game, that would hurt any small school. Shade is healthy and on a good win streak where they have been pounding teams after a tough 4 point loss to c.t. who is the best around here.jmo You might be right, maybe shade takes berlin lightly and they can lose. You never know. It would be a big upset if it happens. Prosser is a great coach and berlin has some good athletes also. Friday will be the big game for all the marbles.
Re: District 5 A boys playoffs
It is a bigger court and a tough atmosphere to play in without ever being there. Also like I said you never know. Shade did beat the vikings in the 3rd game, but with a healthy team finally. Good luck to both teams and hopefully it will be a good game from two west pac schools that are finally getting a little respect. It will be nice to have a district 5 champ and runner-up from the west pac. And they both advance into the playoffs as well. I hope c.t. makes it as a champ and it will be 3 teams out of the west pac. Good luck to them as well.

the court is much longer which i think will favor berlin. boy i hope i dont get a full page ad criticizing me for that statementberlin fan wrote:Great job Berlin boys!!!! Now to the big dance!
