Gateway by 10. Holtz is OUT for Shaler and Gateway will dominate inside and probably go over the top of any press Shaler throws there way. Unless Thorpe has an absolute monster game there is no way a Holtz-less Shaler squad can beat the Gators.

Gateway vs Shaler

Shaler 46-38 over Gateway after 3Q. Gators being patient, hanging around, but need to come up with some shots. Shaler still shooting well.

Fantastic win for Shaler Area last night vs. WPIAL champ Gateway. Shaler never trailed in the game, and Thorpe was dominant. Extra impressive because Shaler was without Pitt football recruit 6'4" 250 JP Holtz. Biggest player is Thorpe at 6'3", while Gateway went 6'10", 6'6", 6'5" acorss the front.

PIAA AAAA western semi Saturday afternoon, 2PM @ Sharon Area HS vs. Erie Cathedral Prep. Should be a good game.

Thats what he told me at Clarion last night. He##, the Ridgeway VQ game used 3 D5 officials, Rod Jarvis, Sam Zambanini, and Barry Saylor. They actually did a decent job, from what I saw before I left at halftime. Too bad I can't say the same about the 2 guys + 1 woman from D9 we had for our game.

D6 officials were on the AAAA western semi yesterday. They were not the reason either team won or lost, but they were somewhat inconsistent. For stretches of the game, they allowed physical play (hand checks, holds, pushes) while, at others they let it go. It was very obvious that the 3 D6 guys were not used to officiating a physical game with very good AAAA athletes and seemed to be in over their heads. At times, i wondered if they really thought everyone was there to watch them, or to watch the players. One of them called the first 3 fouls on Thorpe, seemed almost eager to be the center of attention.

I'll bet a D6 crew does the Lower Merion-Erie Prep AAAA western final at...BALD EAGLE AREA HS. If D6 guys do the game, they will really be like fish out of water. I expect a few LM starters to be in foul trouble.
