Facemasks?

Post by knowitall »

I remember when the catcher and the umpire were the only two on the field to wear a mask. Then the girls started wearing one while hitting. Then the pitcher started wearing one. Now I see shortstops and second basemen wearing them. What is going on? Is it time to start wearing skirts in the field too, ladies?

A liability issue for sure. All it takes is one liner in the face to initiate a lawsuit. Not to mention messing up a lovely young face. Makes us oldies think back and wonder how did we ever survive.
It ain't over until it's over.

Please provide details! Have never seen any baseball pitchers wear a mask. Girl's softball, yes. Baseball, no.

I was referring to girls' softball.

Why does a second baseman need to wear a mask in girls' softball?

Who cares??? Sounds like skirts are appropriate in this case! You had us confused because its a baseball thread. I thought the ladies reference was just an old gym coach dig.
