BC BASEBALL

Post by kmr »

Read in the paper a BC player was injured and they didn't have enough players to play on. Does anyone know whats going on with BC baseball? Last year they had around 20 players.

It is happening all over. Most teams I have seen has between 11-14 kids. I think most kids now won't play if they are not starting right away.

This will be happening to all BC sporting programs soon. Wait until football season, there is no one running the stregth and conditioning program. I see the headlines next fall already. BC stops game with 10 minutes to go in the 1st quarter due to not enough players down 21-0. Get them out of the LHAC, what a joke.

I said before all girls school, 2-3 yrs BC will not be there. All the coaches are leaving, just wonder how long the basketball coach will be there. So getting back to the topic how many kids do BC have on the team?

Let's see KMR, you need 9 to play the game of baseball, so I would say they at least have 9 and now they're down to 8. Cancel the season and let the other schools reschedule another team for the date they play BC. Before it's too late.

In the interest of clarity- If someone else knows positively, then I am wrong, however........Yesterday there was a game started @ Revloc with BC home vs FHPHS. AT THE SAME TIME, there was a JV game between these two scheduled for Sidman. ( I don't know if this one was played). The 3rd baseman was injured on a batted ball, with the score being FHPHS 1, BC 0. He came out of the game. The BC Coach then attempted to put his DH ( he started as the DH) into 3rd base. The way I heard the umps interpretation of the rule, is if you start any game with a DH, you must continue play with same? By putting him at 3rd, they did not have a full lineup, so could not continue, and a forfeit ensued. My question is, if BC had a "split squad", wouldn't it have made more sense to keep a couple more of those JV'ers on hand, and forego the JV game? This cost the varsity a possible win because someone didn't cover his a##. We graciously accepted the win.
It ain't over until it's over.

Bagman, I agree. And, if we think it's bad now, just wait until next season. Due to the state budget cuts school districts are facing, schools will be starting a "pay-to-play" fee. Even if they have such a fee already, chances are that it will increase for next school year. As you say, kids don't want to go out for a sport if they're not going to start. I doubt that most will want to pay to be a bench warmer.
