As a McCort grad myself and someone who knows their program inside and out it seems to me like your sources must have their head in the mud on that one, bud.

I'm by no means an unwavering loyal fan like say Jack Daniels, but I'm going to stick up for a school when I see unnecessary bashing doesn't matter which one either. Granted your word on an internet forum really means nothing to anyone so I'm wasting a minute of my day just to clear the air on bleachercoaches lol.

But yeah, quit ripping on schools that you are sour about. Change with the times. School districts and the way our schools are composed are on the verge of huge shifts anyways. You are like the loser complaining about the economy and how he can't get a job while others are going out and doing it. Money has forever run things. McCort advertises and it makes them money. You're not American if you want to cry about go getters...plain and simple.

Bedford pays for all hope for hyndman charter students living in the hyndman area. Costing Bedford lots of money. Bedford has big furloughs coming this year. Maybe 16 if no retirees. Bedford will shut HYLO elementary down this summer. Big question will be what does Bedford do when 5 yr free lease is up on HYLO hs?

I have no problem with the recruiting BM does. I do have a problem with public schools not being able to do the same thing. All schools should be open boundary schools.

Yep, it's coming...well, maybe not in our area anytime soon but it's creeping into PA already. I coached HS football in Phoenix this year and all public schools are open boundaries there. Interesting tho because that opens up a whole new can of recruiting wars :)

Athens is right. McCort advertises and they make money. In fact here's how it works: McCort has many corporate sponsors who advertise their products on TV, radio and in print. These sponsors then take some of their profit generated from their advertising and donate it to McCort in one form or another. McCort then takes this donated money and THEY then advertise THEIR school on TV, radio, and in print. This inturn makes them money. Get money from someone elses advertising, and then advertise for yourself. Sounds like double dipping.

This advertising crap is another ridiculous joke on the tax payers dime. Lets see now, the bedford school board threatens to sue the county commisioners to reassess and then we have a reassesment and taxes go up. So the school board doesn't like that the commisioners adjusted these rates so the try to sue the commisioners (at tax payers expense) to which the commisioners have to hire a lawyer to defend themselves(at tax payer expense). So now the tax payers are gonna pay more, for what so Bedford can advertise for kids? 70 grand in TV ads is what was quoted. Is this why taxes had to go up? To advertise for kids? This whole situation is crazy!

Well if kids didn't have the option to leave and do cyber school, etc they wouldn't have to do this. When kids choose this option The taxpayers pay even more! That's what's crazy. That money used to be given back but now the district has to eat the costs. Student A decides to stay home and do cyber school because he did terrible last school year. He thinks he can work for 2 hrs a day and be done. The parents think it will be great too....

So the kid does cyber school for half a yr. before realizing the motivation to do cyber schooling isn't there. Now Bedford Area SD has to pay for that kid who went to cyber school. For over 75% of kids or maybe even more than that they find it doesn't work but the cost is already there.

In other unrelated news, Student B gets sent to alt ed because of severe discipline issues. The district has to pay for his daily transportation and usually $20k+ for his education at alt ed.

And then there's the private schools. They use a kid athletically for two years. And then when he becomes a "problem", and they don't need him on the field anymore, they just let him, around mid-April, not attend school anymore and give him his diploma anyway.
