Shreffler Fired from Chambersburg

I just read that Shawn Shreffler was fired as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Chambersburg Area Senior High School for using profanity in the locker room.

The Trojans went 18-10 this season and won the District 3 Class AAAA championship as a 15th seed and beat teams like Hershey and Harrisburg to name a few. Let's remember that his best player went down with an injury for the season just before the first game of the season and he still found a way to get his team a district championship.

Over 15 years, Shreffler has a career record of 241-150 (.616 winning percentage) and his teams have made the postseason in 13 of his 15 seasons as coach. Shreffler also guided the Trojans to a district championship in 2001, his fourth season as coach.

I think this is absolutley absurd for a school board to fire a coach who has been successful for a long time, and for using profanity none the less. What coach hasn't used profanity at one point or another, or anyone on this planet for that matter. It is especially sad when the reports I heard say a parent whose kid is a former player was leading the charge to get him fired. Come on people and quit living in the past. I am sure that parent has used her fair share of profanity around her own kid as well so what is she complaning about. This just blows my mind. All coaches better be on high alert, your job could be taken away next.

This coach had a ton of community support as well. Many other coaches and former/current players spoke on his behalf as well saying the situation was really not as it seemed (based on the ppl who led the charge to have him ousted). The McDevitt coach posted on Twitter that they would accept him as a co head coach and that he could have the head coach's pay. I was shocked that newspapers were even blasting the parents.
