Sorry to SRV I thought that seemed out of character. For future reference I am sure I will have additional mistakes throughout the year and
will do my best to reply with a bit more attention. To all the fans, coaches and players Good Luck this weekend.

Chiefwapum, please don't take me quoting you as a negative or "harsh" in manner. I literally was just asking a question to you, and thought maybe Windber moved to the Wing-T. With personnel changing at a lot of schools in the area a lot of coaches are making the adjustments to their offense accordingly. Example: Look at Portage...Yes we'll be running the Wing-T as is par for the course, however with a mobile QB now we'll definitely be stretching more plays to the sidelines with naked bootlegs and you might just see the mustang's throw in a little option (YES, I said PORTAGE and OPTION in the same statement) lol

I am only going to say a few things about last nights game:

1) Hats off to Portage's coaching staff- Clearly top two in the conference
2) Hats off to Portage's players- they came into that game thinking they could win and they did
3) Some of the North Star kids that needed to step up seemed to be overcome by the pressure.
Normally I would use this loss as a blessing in disguise and tell Berlin to watch out...but I am not sure
this year. It's only Week 1 but I'm sure the players will be asking themselves a lot of questions.

Now I am off for Saturday Evening football!!!

My thoughts on Windber/Shade matchup...

First off, I have to comment on the sportsmanship shown by both clubs. Although there was a few skirmishes after the whistle which I attribute to the "next door" rivalry, I was quite pleased with the way players on both teams patted the opponents rear end after a successfull play or even block and the way each team helped the other up after the play. Parents and coaches of each team should be proud that their young men demostrated themselves in the way that they did.

The officiating was quite poor although being the first game of the year they most certainly desrve a pass. It wasn't so much that there were bad calls, it was they way in which they failed to keep the game moving along. It was as if they were unsure of themselves on every play stoppage and the amount of time needed to spot the ball after a call was just horrible. The game had a kinda "blahh" feeling about it and I think either team trying to gain momentum was hindered by the officiating.

Shade parents and coaches should be quite proud of their boys. Not once did I see a Shade player with his head down and not once was their any indication that they had given up. For those of you out there who have teams out there that will face Shade this year, your team better have their pads strapped on tight and the helmets buckled. They are much improved from a year ago and a nice fundamentally sound club.

As for Windber, they did what they had to do to get the "W". I was spoiled last year watching a backfield w/ Collin Bryan so for me to be judgemental towards this years addition probably wouldn't be fair. I think defensively they will be improved from a year ago but I don't see Windber blowing out teams like they did a year ago. That's not always a bad thing though. I honestly feel if this team takes care of the football, avoid dumb penalties and mistakes, they will win 8 games again and be in the playoffs. It just won't look as easy this time around.

Don't know the reason but I just have a feeling that this loss will be a blessing to North Star. I think much of it has to do with last year and the way Windber had their way with NS in the gegular season only to be thouroughly beaten in D5 championship game. NS is always well coached and I'm sure they will take a few lessons from this game and have a successful campaign.

i think that n.s. will have a so-so season, the reason they were the team they were last year is one reason.... MAX. the kid was outstanding and every team consentrated on him which gave zboronchek and miller the games they had.

great to see c.v. and b.v. have great opening day games. its been a while for these teams to be in the position they are in. berlin played a great game glotfelty had a great game with his multiple interceptions and offensive dominance. cant have that many turnovers and win. c.t. should rebound with tanner cahill returning in the backfield and linebacker. also great job by rockwood with only 17 players and winning their first game also.
